1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where? I love Orlando but want to visit many places.

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time? Trade more than half the time

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations? Want to keep changing it up but mostly US locations.

4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself? 6 but 8 in the future when adoptions are complete.

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule? Anytime

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance? Hard for airfare but for the most part yes I am a long term planner. Currently our trips are every other year.

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time? It's a must for us.

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars? Not picky. Travel for.the location, want clean and safe with enough space for everyone and a kitchenette for convenience.

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing? $15,000

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year? $2000 Max but prefer $1200-1500 range

11) Are you a detail oriented planner? Yes

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do? Yes

My thoughts:

There is no reason to buy Orlando to go to Orlando; Orlando weeks are easily and inexpensively obtainable via Interval Getaways, RCI last calls, or rentals.

I always suggest that people rent a couple of times before purchasing. It will give you a good idea of what is important (for you), what is not important (for you), relative levels of accommodations and amenities, and helps you better decide what you want for the long term. You can take your time on this because resale prices are not going up.

Before you buy, make sure you have an exit plan. Quality matters here. If a unit is being given away today, you may have a difficult time disposing of it when the time comes.

When it's time to buy, don't obsess if a deal you wanted doesn't happen, regardless of why. There will be another unit, exactly the same, soon enough.

Where do you live?

Being you don’t have a location you want to go at least 1/2 the time a system would be good. I always suggest a fixed week if there is a specific area you want to visit at least 1/2 the time.

System type I prefer HGVC. There are nice locations to pick and when you decide to go to Orlando it is easy to get.

Buy vistana mandatory phase in Orlando. That will get you plenty plus plenty of trading. Ideally you should buy a 2 bedroom Westin kierland villas 2 bedroom. You’ll be using those staroptions anywhere you want. Best resale value at 15K and lowest maint fees.

Thank you. We have stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and are planning a trip in the fall and looking into renting at Wyndham Old Town Alexandria in the fall. We are in no hurry to buy and just starting the investigation process. I know there are so many options in Orlando so good to know exchanging for places there are an easy option without owning there.
