Thank you in advance for your response. We’ve been renting and considering timeshares for 7 years now and may finally be ready to take the plunge!

1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where?
Yes Hawaii! We have two small kids and would love to bring them to Maui every year

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?

yes expect to visit at least 50% of the time

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?
Hawaii, Carribean, Mexico, west coast skiing or colorado

4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself?

4

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?
school schedule

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance?
Yes!

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time?
Yes!

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?
4-5

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing?
14k

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year?
2500

11) Are you a detail oriented planner?
Very!

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?
Yes

You may want to just continue to rent. There is no buy-in cost. There is no ongoing cost if you decide to skip a year or two. Hawaii is an expensive place to own- (imo) too expensive to deposit into an exchange to go elsewhere. Of course, you can decide to become a landlord and rent your interval, but that opens another issue.

Other TUGgers may have more specific suggestions, but whatever you decide, purchase RESALE! I see you've been around TUG for quite a while, so you already know that.

Good Luck! and Happy hunting for that bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow.

You are an ideal candidate for one of the Marriott or Westin timeshares on Ka'anapali Beach (resale, of course). The question is which.

I suggest you rent at the various properties to better decide what you prefer: location (north or south of Black Rock), the properties themselves, and the view categories within each.

There are few wrong choices.

I’d suggest Westin kaanapali, you can book your week in Hawaii at 12 months and when you want to switch off to the Caribbean, you can at 8 months with your star options.

Thank you for the feedback. We are leaving towards WORV but we also like the nanea. But also know Hawaii is expensive to own so also deciding if renting is better. Lots of options!

Don’t do nanea it’s voluntary! you don’t get the star options on resale. WKORV is best
