From the article:
According to the figures from the American Resort Development Association, the timeshare industry trade association, resales grew from 17 percent of new timeshare sales in 2010 to 32 percent in 2012 - an impressive growth of market share and proof that the resale market is now a legitimate sector of the industry.
If it almost doubled in two years from 2010 to 2012, I wonder what it would be now, 8 years later?

I bet it depends on changes made to the sales of new units. At one of the resorts where we own multiple units in Mexico, UVCI, the developers have split up into three groups which created three membership groups. These new contracts include the newest resorts offered by the developers and these memberships can not be bought resale without the membership being striped of all of the value and reverting into a timeshare membership instead of a points membership. I see owners trying to sell these for up to $70,000 and they are stuck with a bad product that has no resale value as this membership becomes a regular timeshare with a very high mf.

Eight years ago there were many resales available at UVCI. Now days only occasionally.

As the development of new product slows down the percentage of resales will increase. It is kind of like some car dealers who are now selling more used cars than new ones...
