I am looking at buying and I've been reading Tug for a while but sometimes there is that one question no one ever thinks of. I know where the TS is. I know it trades with II. I know it is 1-17 and 40-50. I can buy thru Holiday Group or Redweek. I know what it costs new. Its VP Flamingoes in Nuevo Vallarta. They are all new and nice. So what else do I find out. I'ld appreciate some more questions I should be asking.
Thanks everyone

See this Timeshare Purchaser's Checklist from the TUG Advice section for 50 possible questions to ask. Some would be better asked of the resort rather than trusting a possible unknown seller. Some of the questions might be taken care of by the closing company.

Not really questions, but you might also want to read the posts about timesharing in general -- one common recommendation is to have your home resort be one you want to go often -- and maybe even in driving distance (given what's happening with flying these days). And you might want to read the thread about DVC switching to RCI -- you can't count on what might be tradable in II in the future. (Part of the reason we bought was the lure of maybe being able to exchange into II -- but we are now losing that option).
If trading is your main interest: Is the resort of your choice likely to be a strong trader -- high quality resort in a high demand area?

This is good info. I've read the questions on TUG and I actually like the resort and plan on going there and I know I can exchange within the Villa del Palmar resorts as long as I have gold. I guess my thing is trusting a company I only see on the internet or even buying from ebay is scary even if it's only a couple thousand that's still more than I would care to lose.

If you were to buy from eBay, look at the seller's rating. I wouldn't buy from someone who wasn't rated in the high 90's. Also, don't buy from someone who has only a few ratings as a seller, unless it's an individual. In that case, several conversations may make you more comfortable or make you decide that you don't want to do business with them.

You may want to know how far in advance you can reserve your week. Mine floating weeks allow rezzies a year out which makes it easy for airfare. Some are six months out with is more difficult I think, and you should ask if you can select a week for deposit should you wish to do so, or do they select the week for you which may mean you get a dog trader.
