My favourite place to vacation is Puerto Vallarta. I do plan to spend 3 to 5 months there when I am ready to retire. I currently pilgrimage there whenever I can.

So, every time I must bring home

MEXICAN VANILLA

Yes, Yes yes. Mexican Vanilla is simply the best!

So, what’s your one must thing to bring home from a place you vacation to often?

When we were coming to Hawaii a couple times a year, we always had to bring home a get cans of Portuguese Sausage Spam. You can only get it in Hawaii. We have some in our kitchen right now. :)

Not an item...But my lovely wife...Sometimes she doesn't wanna come home. But I MUST bring her home...hahahaha

Why? oh yeah, “Hell have no fury like a woman’s scorn” better take her....

Korean BBQ in Williamsburg. I stop by Richmond, buy some Korean BBQ, then grill at the Williamsburg charcoal grills outside.

On our annual St. Marten trip, our daughter likes to bring home MaDouDou flavored rum, which is made on the island. I, unfortunately, only bring home a few extra pounds from all the great restaurants there.

For years I brought home multiple kilos of coffee beans roasted with sugar from the Mercado Central in Mazatlan, but alas, their price went up and airlines started charging to transport the extra suitcase I filled with it. Now we just enjoy it while visiting there. This year's Winter getaway is Puerto Vallarta, so some good tequila may find it's way into a bag. I already have plenty of Mexican Vanilla. :)

Oh yes...tequila.

Just a tip. I still found the best place to buy tequila price wise is still the duty free airport at PVR.

I used to check out the prices at the numerous tequila shops downtown. I usually found the prices were highest at city hall area right across the Melecon. If you walk a few blocks in and towards 5th de December area, prices went down. However, given the fluctuations, I still found the PVR airport best overall in pricing.

Most times, Key West Rum and Key West Gluten Free Key Lime Pie.

Noted. I'll try to hold back a few pesos for that purpose. :)

Actually at PVR airport they quote USD.

Sometimes better because I find some retailers use pesos as a tool to take you for more. Not always but they hope you lose track of the exchange rate.

Cool combo. I’ll try a big piece of key lime pie and wash it down with Rum,

Still gotta get to Marcos Island. It’s on the list.

Marco Island is totally different then Key West. Key West is busy and noisy. Marco Island is more quiet and relaxing with beautiful beaches.

Each so different but love to go to both.

From St Maarten/St Martin - French Amora mustard, Tunisian Harissa , French mayo with Dijon mustard, local blend of jerk spices for ribs, French cheeses, and sometimes fresh baked dark bread. Few bottles of fav adult beverage as well. For the plane - variety of cheese sandwiches on fresh baguette.

Just great memories of bluebird skies and long cruising times on the ski runs at Steamboat.
Cheers

You need to be careful about this. It is pretty easy to buy imitation Mexican vanilla that is pure garbage and perhaps dangerous.

I have to buy a souvenir from timeshare vacations, usually a magnet or T-shirt.

Nellie and Joe’s Key West lime juice is always on my list to bring home from Florida, so I can make my own key lime pie. When we go to Vietnam, or when our kids come home for a visit, I get Strongbow Red Berries cider. We can’t get this flavour here in Canada.

True. Unscrupulous makers and vendors have been known to use ethylene glycol (anti-freeze) to stretch it out and impart a sweet flavor, it can be poisonous. Only buy from known makers- not resellers.

I always seem to bring home regional food--hot sauce from New Orleans, Shortbread cookies and coffee from Hawaii, Mole paste (shhh) from Mexico, etc. My family thinks I'm a bit off, but I enjoy all the different tastes.

When in Mexico or overseas I pick up a tube of zovirax for cold sores. In Canada we need a prescription for it and by the time I could get to a doctor for a prescription my cold sores would have fully emerged. Good thing too I had 2 outbreaks in December of this year. My daughter gets them too so I give her a tube as well.

My girlfriend loves collecting fridge magnets. It just solidifies the memories she says.

Maple Syrup in huge glass gallon jugs, although we didn't this last time because we will be moving.
