Well if we are going to include movies developed from the stage: West Side Story, Evita, Phantom of the Opera

What, no votes for Psycho or Jaws?

If we are going to disqualify Grease because it was originally a stage production, how about Xanadu so we can pick up Olivia Newton John. The film was terrible, but the music was great.

American in Paris.

I almost listed this one in one of my earlier posts but decided not to. I’m glad you did. I thought it was an excellent movie and soundtrack. Of course, I’m a huge fan of the two stars and pretty much like anything they do.

As the OP, I had no intention of disqualifying any movie. If it was a movie and there was a soundtrack, it qualifies.

Need to go back and look at the complete list, but while watching the new Cruella movie I found myself thinking “there is a lot of great music in this movie”.

A different song that fit each character. How can you beat Charles Bronson (harmonica), Jason Robards, Henry Fonda (villain), and Claudia Cardinale

Final gunfight scene

Guardians of the Galaxy (both)

I'm not a Marvel guy at all, and I only watched it because I was running out of binge and it's on Disney+.

Excellent choice, both soundtracks were phenomenal!

My submission would be Urban Cowboy

Also an Ennio Morricone fan. Love listening to The Mission soundtrack whenever I want to be transported someplace else.

Saturday Night Fever. Didn’t even need to think about it .

Okay Cornell. We're gonna need to take a DNA test as we may be twins.

Also, I watched Vison Quest a few weeks ago and I had forgot that it was Madonna's big breakout soundtrack.

This will offend some people on here (National Review -- OMG!!! ), but this review of SNF captures why I like that movie so much.

The movies amounted to a generational warning about the perils and setbacks of adult life

And so many good songs on the Vision Quest soundtrack: a deep cut from Journey, Lunatic Fringe, Sammy. And of course, John Waite, who I think is an under-respected artist. I love The Babys which was his group.

Valley Girl (1983)...........introducing Nicholas Cage........definitely a cult following, but a cool movie, fer shur!!! Loved it.
"I Melt with You" by Modern English ( a one-hit wonder, but a great one!)...one of my all-time favorite songs.
"Love My Way" by the Psychedelic Furs
"A Million Miles Away" by the Plimsouls

Saturday Night Fever
We all know the hits. Too many to list........amazing movie, amazing music.

The Sound of Music....
NOT!!!!!!!!! My mom had a certain radio station on each morning during breakfast,
and they played Sound of Music songs non-stop, no interruptions, no commercials.
If I EVER hear one of those songs I gag. Truly, truly makes me sick.

Speaking of....in the past 10 years "My Favorite Things" has become a Christmas song. So now we are subjected to SofM at both Easter and Christmas.
