My husband has dementia and parkinson's disease and we are unable to travel. Since [one of our timeshares] has not served us well we are thinking of selling it. We have three other timeshares with Sheraton Vistana but our children will be using them. They have served us very well.

What do you recommend I do to sell [a timeshare with one of the major hotel systems]. Have you any experience with them?

Thank you...:

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

I am so sorry to hear about your husband.

The difficulty with reselling a TS is that they go for far less on the resale market than what you paid the developer, but the hotel timeshares hold up better than most.

For lots of info. about how to sell your timeshare see the article at the top of this board.

The most important thing to remember is NEVER pay a large upfont fee to list your timeshare with a resale company - it's a ripoff and once they have your money, they have no motivation to sell your resort.

You should also consider adding your children's name to the Sheraton deeds which will allow them to make reservations themselves, inherit them smoothly, and inherit the owner's priorities as well.

I am going to remove some specifics from your post so it is not mistaken by others as a sales Ad, which is not allowed on TUG.

Good luck!

I want to sell my HGV timeshare. How do I determine the price. We paid 15,000. for 1 BR in Orlando. Who or what would be the best way to market it. HELP!!!!:)

As is often said to like postings... Please see the sticky at the top of the forum entitled, "How to Sell..."

With HGVC, the size or location of your unit is relatively unimportant. What matters more is your season and how many points you have. You will unfortunately find that your TS is worth far less than what you paid for it.

Since the OP already has a thread started on this topic, I moved her 2nd post to this thread.

I want to sell my timeshare. How do I determine the price....

First: You could contact TUG member Seth Nock (do a search), who seems to be universally respected by HGVC buyers+sellers alike, as a straight-shooter.

Second: Check sales of similar properties on e-bay, particularly the recently "completed" auctions and set-price units, and you'll have a range.
