What is the least amount of star options you would bank considering it costs $99 to bank for us non-elite.

Too late to bank for the non elite but at 2c a point that's 5000 points is $99

If it can't buy another night and you have no plans for that lose star option change then dont convert

Probably 10K. I don't have any data to support this, but below this number, it just doesn't seem to impact what I can and cannot book. The data-driven response is more likely 15K because that's the diff between 81K and 95.7K, but who really knows.

I do know that StarOptions are valuable because they can't be rented from others. Accordingly, those of us who bank routinely should just assume the additional $99, whether it stretches 15K or 5K.

Best,

Greg

I have decided to just add it in as an expense every year. The one way I was utilizing my points left me with leftovers which someone pointed out to me was enough for approx one night somewhere. I figured 99 for one night on a room wasn't a bad deal. In 2016 I will be banking 2 nights worth of points.

And without the ability to rent and with borrow messing up home resort priority and costing the years MF the right answer for an individual may be 25 if that is what your account comes up short on a reservation.

So true.

I think I banked 1500 one year and then ended up borrowing 30000 the next year because of changes in plans and availability.

Luckily it doesn't cost anything extra as Five Star Elite.

Thank you. These are great tips and a good rule of thumb.
Sometimes it is not worth the $99 if you have too few points.
