What is the best resort for price/fees to trade

I have a couple weeks in Aruba which we like to use. Thinking about buying a week somewhere else (cheaper) to use to trade off. Of course price/annual fees come in to play. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks,

Todd

Sedona Springs

There are lots of options. The resort I'm currently most excited about, though, is Sedona Springs in Arizona. There have been a number of weeks available lately both through resale agents and on ebay at really good prices.

Sedona is a gorgeous place to visit...and Sedona Springs has beautiful, huge units with 1750 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and they are all lockoffs. So you can get two weeks for your one maintenance fee (which is a bit high at $748...but not bad for two weeks).

Another thing about Sedona Springs is the number of exchange options you have. It is affiliated with II and RCI and it is accepted by SFX. All the weeks are floating 1-52...which is a nice feature also. If you have an interest in RCI resorts, Sedona Springs is part of the VRI family which gives you reduced membership and exchange fees in RCI and priority trading into other VRI resorts (similar to Marriott's priority in II).

Another resort that I used to recommend highly is Foxrun in Lake Lure, North Carolina. I have lost a bit of my enthusiaism for it recently, however. Most of the owners there seem to feel that too many people have bought it just to exchange in II and that the trade power is therefore poised to take a dive. I have tended to disagree with this, but it is definitely the prevailing view among Foxrun owners. So perhaps this is not the best time to buy there. Prices and fees are still very reasonable, but if trade power does collapse as many fear, then there may be a huge glut of resales that flood the market...making them virtually worthless.

There are, of course, may other good options...but this hopefully gives you a start. If you want another Marriott, I'd consider Ocean Pointe as it is a lock off and has reportedly very high trade power.

In terms of low cost/low MF and trade value, I would think a 2 BDRM LO Plat at the Manor Club in Williamsburgs probably is the best bet. Next I would think Ocean Pointe would be next on my list.

Using the LO can really yield some tremendous value.

Regards.
