What is the best unit / price

I was shopping around and seen where st johns 3br ownership can have up to 160,000 starwood points or something.

Just entertaining ideas also are there exchange fees with starwood ownership

I own a weeks ownership with a different resort that does do rci and i am an rci member just exploring potential other timesharing options

It is St John
And you mean StarOptions and not StarPoints.

but, to answer your question... Depends on multiple factors

If you wanted to use the internal point system (StarOptions), you will need to ask yourself whether you want to pay a lower up-front and a higher annual maintenance fee, or if you are willing to pay a higher up-front with a lower MF.

Westin Saint John isn't typically considered a property that people purchase to use StarOptions, although the Virgin Grand Villas section certainly has a high StarOption allocation.

I would study the system carefully and figure out where you want to go and when, and then perhaps we can further clarify the system for you.

Best,

Greg

but, to answer your question... Depends on multiple factors

I wasn't trying to be wisea** here
for example... variables affecting economics...

Where you live
Willingness to rent
# in family (adults/children)
Travel off season
Ability to fly/drive

among many others

no way anyone can give you an answer - as it is not a one-size-fits-all situation.

I would say (for us...) - Plat WKV has best economics (because it can rent easily for profit)

WKORV, WKV, SDO, Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra.
Assuming that you mean the lowest cost, these two resorts are generally recommended the most for Staroptions traders:

Westin Kierland Villas - Higher upfront cost/lower maintenance fee

Vistana Villages (Bella and Key West phases only) - Lower upfront cost/higher maintenance fee

These are the only Starwood resorts that have Staroptions on a resale:

* Harborside at Atlantis
* Vistana Villages (Bella and Key West phases only)
* Westin St. John (Virgin Grand - Hillside only)
* Westin Ka'anapali & Westin Ka'anapali-North
* Westin Kierland Villas

I think it's worth mentioning the Platinum Plus WSJ VGV units in these recommendations as well, since they have similar per-SO costs to WKV but also guarantee access to St. John. It is true that they are completely different ownerships from WKV -- no lockoff, fixed weeks, property taxes paid separately from MFs, etc. -- but for many having home resort priority to a highly demanded tropical resort is a huge advantage over Orlando and Scottsdale.
