Hi,

Might be a stupid question :)

If a resort has check-in on a Friday the 20th August (EXAMPLE :))
When is the first time I can call to be "first"?
Is it the 20th of January? or can I call like on a Monday morning, the 15th of January since it is the same week, almost at least :)
Just don't want to miss my spot so need to confirm...

Thanks :)

8 mos. ahead is the same date, 8 calendar mos. before check-in - this is the first date you can make a Staroption Exchange.

In your example, Dec. 20th is 8 mos. before Aug. 20th.

12 mos. ahead is the same date, a full year before check-in - this is the first date you can make a home resort reservation.

Reservations opens at 9 a.m. eastern time. You usually have to redial many times at that time.

You said call several times, does it matter if I call that 3* Elite Number? Will I get ahead in line or something? Or is it all the same?

No - not several times a day - several times starting at 8:59 a.m., and continuing until you get through. They are always busy at that time of day, especially if the reservation is for a holiday week in the US.

For some resorts/holidays, the date can be completely booked by noon. That happened recently when people were reserving President's week at the Maui resort. By noon - there was no more availability.

Quiding, ... "does it matter if I call that 3* Elite Number? Will I get ahead in line or something? Or is it all the same?"

In my experience, it is not all the same. The agents at the Elite number are more experienced. IMO, they really know what they are doing. You are rarely put on hold when you call the Elite number at 9am. You can get in right away and make your reservation. However, they do check the Starwood records as to your status each time you call.

One question: if you are Elite and have proper access to the Elite number, why would you call any number other than the Elite number? ... eom

Probably since I am a newbie ;)
Just getting started, going to do my first booking in 3weeks, wish I could do it now so I know how things work even more...

Another problem is, I want 2 weeks in a row, is that possible? (I own 2weeks)
Or I mean, do I have to call 2 times then and hope to be lucky both times? Suppose I have to change room to the 2nd week...

When you make the first Resv., you can ask them to put in the 2nd Resv. for you - a week later. They can enter it in the computer, and it will automatically be reserved for you a week later. Some Reps don't know about this, but you can.

You may have to change units the 2nd week - there is no guarantee that you will get to stay in the same room, but you can definitely ask.

I believe that reserving the 2nd week can only be done with a lock-off unit.
For example - we have done this with our 2Bd LO WKORV, but I do think we can do this with the twp 1Bd WKV weeks we own.
I just made reservations this morning for WKV (booked both of our weeks for Mar2) - if I knew sooner I could have tried.
