What if Mexico closes the border to the USA

One thing for sure, there isn't anywhere I like better than a Mexican beach. Just read an article that says Mexico is considering closing the border.

There are currently more than 2,000 cases of the virus in the US and it is spreading rapidly. 43 people have died from it. In Mexico, there have only been 16 confirmed cases and no deaths.

It's called ignore the truth and stop testing. What would happen to the Mexican economy if the real numbers were reported especially with $25 oil. The three major contributors to the Mexican economy are tourism, oil and remittance. Maybe that's why the MXN peso devalued 15% in one week.

Their just upset about St Louis keeping the Stanley Cup from them. Canada put the kybosh on their NHL teams. Their players have to go home. No ice time.

FYI- if you head north you will get 1.38 CAD / it was 1.33 on Feb 21

I bought gas last night for 86.2 a litre / and used the Petro Canada 5 cent off / per litre point card
so my net was $81.2 / litre . ( perhaps a 9 or 10 year low )
As the beach vendors say in Mexico - “practically free “

Of course this drop in oil is going to hurt Alberta / and they did not need more job losses .

Guatemala has also closed its borders to travelers from the US and Canada (as well as a number of other countries). If your coming from a country with a Covid-19 outbreak, you can only get in if you are a Guatemalan national. And then you still need to quarantine.

Think they learned from our mistakes???

Belize is also turning away people trying to come in from counties with Covid19 cases. Twice in the last 24 hrs the popular ADO bus from Cancun to Belize City was held up at the border and anybody on board who had been in Europe or China in the last 30 days was taken off the bus and kept in Mexico. A ferry from Chetumal MX to San Pedro Belize was not allowed to dock in San Pedro last evening due to some Germans on board. There was a long standoff near the dock because the captain and crew didn't want to return to Mexico in the dark. The last thing we heard was that some food and water was taken out to the ferry and it was going to anchor off shore until daybreak this morning.
So far Mexico is allowing people from Belize to enter whether they are visitors or residents as there are no cases of the virus in Belize - yet.

I'd be shocked if they aren't closed soon. Several governors (including ours in Colorado) have effectively closed down any restaurant, bar, casino, gym, and any place where people can gather.

That's why they close them. If they are closed, it limits people coming in to the country that could be infected. Of course, as one mentioned in another thread, it is kind of like closing the barn doors after the horses have already got out.

Nevada governor just announced the closing of all casinos & non-essential businesses in our state for 30 days. Only grocery stores, gas stations, medical facilities, fire & Police, can be open. All restaurants have to close but may offer drive through or delivery service.

I’ve just canceled my reservation to GD LV and flights, now we don’t know where to go, my parents in love don’t recive visits in Queretaro at this time, may be we will stay this vacation in home.
