I didn't think the article meant that seatguru had gone away, just that it hasn't been updated. I've noticed when I've checked that I don't always find the configuration of the planes that are shown on an airlines seat selection portion.

I didn't read it but understood where to look now meant it was gone. Though you can search by flight number, there are lots of different configurations of planes, and they can be interchanged for the same flight.
