I’m looking for suggestions. I use my iPad and kindle fire to download books for free from my county library using Cloud Library and Hoopla. I like audio books for when exercising (mostly indoor walking using walk away the pounds videos) and regular books for evening reading. I feel like I’m running out of things to download. I’m a huge Clive Cussler fan, but I think I’ve read them all ( I think the Oregon stories are my favorite), I’m working my way through J A Jance (sheriff Brady and JP Beaumont), caught up with Patricia Cornwall (have to say her earlier novels were much more intriguing), I’ve read all the C J Box novels. And Brad Thor. James Patterson too. And David Baldacci. I like “series” type, mystery and spy. Anyone have any ideas or favorites? I love the site fantasticfiction.com, as you can look up your favorite author and see if there are any books you may have missed.

I’m also getting bored with Netflix and amazon prime. Started watching Hunters on amazon, less than thrilling. Still trying to get caught up with Walking Dead, but really isn’t a good idea at the moment, really liked Bosch, waiting for the next set of episodes. Jack Ryan’s first season was pretty good, second one not so much.

It’s too cold outside around here to putter around outside and there is only so much cleaning and purging that I want to do on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance!

If you like Cussler and Patterson, I would highly recommend you get yourself hooked on Harry Bosch, the lone wolf Los Angeles police detective created by Michael Connelly. Connelly has written something like 23 novels featuring Bosch, and--more recently--Amazon Prime has aired 4 or 5 seasons of Bosch on its platform. Connelly is an outstanding writer, creates compelling characters, and develops fascinating plotlines that force Bosch to review, pore over, and rigorously review case files to find the single piece of evidence others have missed in order to nail the perpetrator.

You will find yourself completely absorbed, and have a great time doing it!

Thank you for that. I have been watching Bosch, didn’t know it was based off books. I’ve enjoyed watching the series...i think the next season is due in April.

+1 for Michael Connelly and his Harry Bosch novels.
I have read them all and a new novel is coming out in a few months.

Another author I highly recommend is Greg Iles.

I am on my third time around with the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I'm on the last book right now. Not sure what I'll do when that one is done.

I bought the first 22 books as a lot on eBay; think I am on #18 or so by now. I've been wondering how Connelly will weave our Los Angeles stay-at-home term into a future Bosch novel.

Thanks for all the additional suggestions. @rapmarks yes, have read all of the “Prey” and Virgil Flowers books by Sanford. Actually I think I’ve listened more than read. I love the narrator..forget his name. My other favorite narrator us Scott brick (he does the Cussler books).
I’ve also discovered another series by David Rosenfelt, the Andy Carpenter. I’m working my way through on audio. More enjoyable for me because most of it takes place in New Jersey.

Another suggestion, I watched a funny movie last night, its a type I normally do not watch. It was a nice needed break and I had a few laughs. I will keep trying to watch one everyday.

Thanks for the suggestions. I stopped reading Clive Cussler when his book contained a discovert of Abraham Lincoln body on a boat which sunk on the Nile River.
If you haven’t read the mitch Rapp books by Vince Flynn, they are good too.

Armand Gamache series by Louise Penney
Sharon McCone by Marcia Muller
V.I. Warshawski by Sara Paretsky
Sue Grafton's alphabet series: one or two in the middle lost their punch, but she picked it back up later.

less heart pounding with more character development and storyline:
The Charles Todd (mother and son writing team): Ian Rutledge series and Bess Crawford series. Both set in WWI.
Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear

Anne Perry's series set in Victorian England.
Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak series

On a much lighter side, I've been reading the Scumble River series by Denise Swanson. It's in the cozy mystery category with a side of humor. I've been enjoying them at a time when it's scary enough out in real life.

Donna Leon's series about a police investigator set in Venice. Good stories, often with some quirks based on the political bureaucracy in Italy, plus reading all the descriptions of the locations makes it feel like a virtual trip to Venice.

Thanks for all of the additional suggestions. Cloud library is giving me major issues right now. My books disappear and reappear, so frustrating. At least Hoopla is behaving, but I’m only allowed 5 borrows per month. I think cloud library is being overwhelmed. The brick and mortar libraries in my county are all closed.

Anyone remember the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald? I’m talking back in the ‘70s.

Happy reading.

Last October I couldn’t find my kindle. Then I fell ill, and barely packed for my trip south. So I need my kindle and it is 2500 miles away.

If you have an iPhone you can download the kindle app on it. I did but don’t remember how I did it.
