I have a Gold 1 week at GV

now we have decided next year we can not use out week ( we have been to fla 4 times in the last 5 years and fancy a break of 1 year )

So i have decided on either selling it now , we fancy DVC ( it only owes me $650 ) and the buyer normally pays the costs

or ? ? ?

what are my options

You can bank your week to Interval International and exchange in 2013 or 2014.
If you decide to sell your gold GV week, you will be disappointed. Price dropped very much compared to 3-4 years ago prices.

If you enrolled your MGV gold week in the DC then you could turn it in for points. That's what I do with mine. It carries a fair amount of points and allows for shorter stays and also can be used to extend a stay.

If you did not enroll the week into the DC then you can reserve the best week that you can and either deposit it with II or rent the week to someone else. If you purchased direct from Marriott you could probably turn it in for MRP's without having to enroll in the DC. I don't see much else that can be done with it other than sell it.

thanks

i would only want $650 for it, so shouldnt be that bad

the banking at II just seems over complicated, as we are in the UK, we visit for 2 weeks and even that seems hit and miss

unless we exchanged for 1 week in france or spain for next year ? ? ?

even somewhere in the UK would work ? ? ? does II have many in the UK ? ? ?

If you look at your resort in II, there is a TDI index, which will tell you which weeks are the highest demand. Reserve one of those weeks in your season.

I am not familiar with the TDI and would be interested in finding that link. I could not see anything like that on by resort page on II.

Another option is to just ask your Marriott Advisor. Ours told me the top 5 highest demand weeks and I have been reserving those that weren't PP for the last several years (for trading or renting purposes).

on the II site

each resort seems to have a TDI

http://www.intervalworld.com/web/cs?a=1503&resortCode=MGV&parentResortCode=MGV

just under resort info on the left

Travel Demand Index

so 23 - 25 is the best week for me

Matt beat me to it!

It doesn't give trading value like TPU's in RCI, just the high and low demand weeks.

Take some tiome to read this Thread: http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74057

Since you say you are in the UK you could exchange your week for a week at a Marriott in Spain ot Majorca.

Marriott deposit France and Spain bulk weeks regularly, and you will get Marriott priority (only Marriott owners can see those deposits for 21 days) with your GV week.
1) buy II membership, it is $89 for one year
2) Reserve high demand week in gold season like Thanksgiving week. Week 24 is a platinum season, I believe.
3) Deposit your week to II. and put an ongoing search for France and Spain
4) It doesn't matter if your deposited week is taken by another party or not, once you deposit your week, it is not your responsibility, it is on II's hand.

thanks, that link explains a little, i will have to sit down and research it some more

can i exchange to spain via marriott ?? ? or is that through II aswell ? ? ?

If you are enrolled DC program, you can reserve Spain through Marriott.
If you convert your GV week to Marriott hotel points, you can reserve a Marriott hotel.
If you buy II membership, you can exchange your GV week to one of three Spain resorts.

Through II, unless you join the DC and trade in points.

Please keep in mind that if the reservation you are depositing is for November 18, 2012 it will be good until your check our date for to two years, November 25, 2014. If you do not use the deposited week in your Interval account before the one year memberships runs out you will have to buy another years membership in order to complete your travel by before November 25, 2014.

Through II, unless you join the DC and trade in points.

The four European Marriott Resorts are NOT part of the DC system and so owners are not able to enroll their weeks for DC points. Nor does Marriott sell DC points for the European resorts - they are still selling weeks.

So as far as I know it should not be possible to use DC points to book weeks at the European resorts. It may be possible if the resorts are part of the Explorer option but as an owner at 2 of the European Resorts - I can only deposit my weeks with Interval. I do not think Marriott should be able to take those weeks for a DC points owner who wants to use points to reserve a week in a European resort since they have not assigned any DC points values to weeks at the European Resorts.

i have a week at GV, not points, i did try to convert to points, but we are oversea's and they do not allow that, we can buy points and use them, but just not convert to points

It is actually a three year window if you deposit the week one year ahead of the reserved week check in day. Then you have two years after the reserved week check out date to complete your exchange. If you reserve week 24 and deposit it - you will until week 24 2014 to use the week.

I just deposited Thanksgiving week 2012 so I now have until 11/25/14 to use it for an exchange. Making a request as soon as possible to where you want to go will also help your chances of getting it, even if it is more than year in advance. You can request up to two years in advance of check in - of course your Interval membership has to be paid for that far too. There are many threads in TUGs that explain how to get the best trading power from your week in Interval.

Yes, I totally agree.
And fortunately so too do Marriott, as if you look at their 2012 - 2013 Points Charts
http://www.my-vacationclub.com/common/vc/en-us/pdfs/enrollment_legal_docs/points_charts.pdf
they make it very clear, as no Points charts are shown for European or Asian resorts and they include the following statement

You may only exchange into the following resorts through the World Traveler Collection:
