1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where? Well to keep it to timeshares and not my dream home or RV (house on wheels) Williamsburg and/or Gatlinburg, and maybe Massanutten

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?
I want to stick with EOY. Want even just so I can do it this year. Plan to use the property as an extended family vacation. Between me, my sisters and my mom there are 17 of us but most of the time it will only be 10-12 of us. My mom who used to fund many of our family mini trips is now retired, my siblings aren't able to pay for vacations (thus driving distance places) and the adult grandkids probably won't attend.

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?
Arizona, Florida, Caribbean/Mexico, Williamsburg, Gatlinburg

4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself?
10 - Massanutten when I did there tour said if I was an owner I could book for my family reunion there which would be like 15 rooms. Not sure how legit that was or if other properties do that so I waited and didn't buy retail (Yay me and even bigger Yay for TUG)

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?
flexible but I refuse to go anywhere hot (FL, AZ, Caribbean) in the summer so if I am getting a week in one of those places I want late fall or the spring. If it VA or TN I want summer.

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance?
yes

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time?
yes, it will be nice because even if extended family only comes for a few days I can have some time alone to recuperate.

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?
I don't really care for Motel 6. I am more of a Marriott Springhill Suites or higher type so 3.

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing?
I would like to keep it at $1-2,000 but the cheaper the better.

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year?
Not sure how they work in EOY. Do I pay annually or the year I travel? $1000 or less

11) Are you a detail oriented planner?
I can be as I plan our large family reunion, family cruises, oh so yeah I am a detailed planner when I need to be.

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?
yes this is why I want EOY instead of annual. I want to understand timeshares before I dive in deeper and see if its a good long term fit as my family ages.

The big issue is the big size of your traveling party. You're going to need a 3 bedroom and there's not a lot of those around.

You can look at Massanutten or Williamsburg. For best trade value look to The Colonies in Williamsburg during prime weeks. That will get you the biggest bang for the buck. Both are also Vacation Village locations so you would probably receive special discount offers at different times of the year that would help you out as well.

Would stay away from anything in Florida. It's too easy to trade into and would not give good enough trade equity to land the larger unit you need.
