I have been to Captiva 3 times. Twice through an Interval trade and this time using my hgvc points within the system. All three times it was at the same timeshare South Seas at South Seas Resort even though there are others. One day I hope to be able to get a different one.
I remember enjoying it the first time. It was about 7 years ago. The second time was last year and the unit being filthy upon arrival and not being able to get anyone to clean it except me, just took the vacation in the wrong direction.
Great winter weeks in trading are hard to get so when I saw this Captiva week a few weeks ago I went for it, reluctantly, because of my bad experience last year. Up until last night I was looking for an alternative but nothing showed.
So driving here from Key West I was not excited but it was still a warm place to go.
This time the unit was spotless and we got a unit on the second floor so we have a golf, lake and sea view plus beautiful vaulted ceilings. We went to Doc Fords for dinner and I had the conch chowder and lobster roll, both gluten free as I need. I forgot how good they both were. We had a good time.
I am now looking forward to my week, I scanned the activities, too tired to look it over in detail but the farmers market and a painting class both are things I want to do.
What a difference a year makes.
I learned something, sometimes you have to give a timeshare another chance. I am glad I did.
