Richard, thanks for sharing this article. Now I wish all these NCAA Division I powerhouse coaches & schools needs to read this article and share some of the wealth they have made off college players in the last seventy (70) years. This article is not only for basketball; but this article also needs to include football teams in the NCAA. Example: ALBA, USC, UCLA, PENN STATE, LSU, TEXAS and the college list goes on & on.
Shoes deals, television deals and conference broadcasting rights and the lists goes on & on.

If you start paying football and basketball players, where is the money going to come from to support all the other sports which generate little or no income...

I really feel for these poor athletes. All they are getting out of this is a free education without having to assume a mountain of debt, training and conditioning that will at least get them a chance of landing hefty signing bonuses and multi-million dollar contracts later on if they are good enough. Yeah they have to put in a lot of time, but so do the non-athletes who have to juggle jobs while attending school.

If this goes in, it will be a sad, sad, day.

These athletes are paid - free or reduced tuition, room and board.
Why are we so intent on ruining the college experience?

These student athletes trained over forty hours per week and most trained off season everyday.
Why are college basketball & football coaches earning more than the University president? IMO that so-called student athletes is nothing but a modern day Roman Gladiator on display on television , the football field and the basketball course every weekend.
How much does the University of Alabama earn in profit from television rights, concessions profits, licenses products hats, jerseys, season tickets sell, parking, etc.,

The majority of college football and basketball players; playing this weekend will never play one second on the professional level in the NFL, CFL or NBA level. This is not my opinion but a true fact. This is base upon the number of professional team in sports.
