After I check in, I always load up on my favourite vacation food by doing a bee line to the local grocery store. I call them balcony foods. The snacks I enjoy while chilling on the balcony.

Here is my must have list:

1. Tortilla chips, salsa, cheese and hot peppers.
2. A case of beer. Preferably Mexican beer.
3. AND IF I AM IN HAWAII — poke. If not, SUSHI.

Oh yes, let heaven begin.

What’s your bee line/must have food/drinks once you check in?

1. Bottle of bourbon or whiskey.
2. Cashews or bold Chex mix
3. Wine for the wife

Fred, I just want to say that you should be an interviewer. You ask many good questions that inspire people to want to respond.

Spaghetti and ice cream.

Thank you. Let’s just say my job has taught me to Master open and closed questions.

I enjoy trying to think of different angles as I really enjoy the engagement. There are a lot of good people here that have a lot to share.

What is your profession?

For me it’s Big Wave or LongBoard Beer and Maui Onion chips. But we have also been getting the Taro donuts at the bakery for breakfast.

If in Hawaii, I gotta get those Hawaiian Sweet buns. Yummy.

I tried to copy cat them at home but can’t get them as good as the ones in Hawaii.

We always bring/get steak, ingredients for breakfast casserole, and ice cream

I always wonder what the sheer tonnage of ice cream that is cumulatively thrown away at the end of any given timeshare week worldwide....because you've got to buy it fresh, you will never finish all of it, and you can't take it with you.

Throw away ice cream? That would be a capital offense in my family! I can finish off a lot of ice cream!

We always eat out except maybe for breakfast. If we aren’t going out for breakfast, I always have some cereal and yogurt to last me until lunch. We don’t really snack that much either because our daughter is a foodie so she researches the best restaurants to try. Of course, we have appetizers and dessert so we’re too stuffed to need anything else between meals. My drink of choice is Gentleman Jack so I usually have a bottle of that handy.

Oh DH will finish it!! We have had over a litre (more than a quart) leftover as a result of eating too many dinners out and buying too many containers of ice cream when he finds a sale. I have seen him eat most of a carton with a spoon while watching TV (as I pack up the timeshare box).

Lately I have been making burrito filling and bringing it (frozen) in a container along with the wraps for our check-in night meal. By the time we get checked in, unload the car and then head out grocery shopping we are usually starving, resulting in buying too much or the wrong type of food. It just takes a few minutes to fill the burritos and nuke them then we can grocery shop with full bellies. I also bring a container of my home-made spaghetti sauce pre-frozen since it helps keep the rest of the cooler contents cold and makes for a good meal to get ready in a hurry if we are out sightseeing all day.

Challenge accepted.

Of course this is an easy one.

We head to supermarket after eating dinner out first night, local cuisine if available.
Then we buy groceries milk bread cereal and maybe soups and salad.
If it’s a place we can drive to, the timeshare, we load up the cooler with condiments , coffee, juices, burgers, hot dogs. We also bring beach chairs and umbrella, if we stay near the beach.
Since we have been staying mostly in Florida will do this at least one more time this year.
When we fly to a timeshare we just pack clothes and buy groceries at the destination. We tend to eat dinners out, I look at trip advisor for local restaurants and check Restaurants.com for deals on gift certificates. Will be going to Arizona in April for two weeks. So excited, never been. Both are tug exchanges.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Wine, Irish Cream or Margaritas depending on the time of year or my mood. Shrimp cocktail. Horseradish extra sharp Cabot cheese and VT crackers. For later in the week nachos and (melted) cheese (Cabot extra sharp) with hot salsa.

For a dinner- Hannford's bourbon salmon. I also like to get a bar of Lake Champlain dark chocolate.

Diane,

I make several Mexican food items what I would consider quite well (tacos, enchiladas, my own Mexican Pizzas, etc).

I have Tried, UNSUCCESSFULLY to make Burritos.

I am hoping you can help me with whatever your recipe is for "...burrito filling..." above.

I am hosting Saturday evening, and making MEXICAN food----maybe will try it THEN!!

Thanks,
Pat

Depending on where we are. In Hawaii we always stock up on Koloa Dark Rum and POG at Costco. Other than Poke food will vary. Have to get Loco Moco the first morning. In Mexico it is Tequila, Modelo, Tecate, local chips, and fresh salsa. If it is a drive to location we always carry Irish Whisky, Scot Whisky, Modelo, and Tecate. Patti many times will bring a dinner for the first night so after unpacking we can just put our feet up. Patti will bring at least 1 white wine and 1 red wine. If we are in Nevada or California we always make a Costco Run for Liqour. We more than Pay for our gas in the money we save over Oregon Prices.
