What are the dates that Whale Season runs.? Thinking of visiting end of March next year and wondering if that is too late. Can you see the whales and take trips from Kauai or is it just mostly Maui?
Thanks
Maui is where you want to be to see whales. The season can run from November to April but the largest numbers will be January through mid March. You can see them outside of those times but not in the numbers.
With regard to Kauai, we see them along the north shore (for us in mid January to mid February from the lighthouse moving west to Ke’e) but not in the abundance that we have seen them on the south shore of Maui. In addition, the channel they choice seems to be further from shore, making binoculars a must for mature eyes.
Saw one at Poipu Beach Park at near Sunset Thanksging afternoon, 2 days ago.
Fisrt full day in Maui today, have't seen anything from north of Kaanapali at the Kuleana Club (a block or two from Cindy and rick's Hono Koa)
