We arrived at Desert Spring Villas today---still getting settled.

Our bodies' internal timeclocks still think it's Eastern time---so bedtime is early so far.

Played golf at Cimmaron's executive course today (just to get warmed up for the bigger courses later this week).

Got assigned a 'golf green view' as requested.

I'll write more as the week goes by.

I failed on 17 chances today for a hole in one (17 of 18 were par 3's)

Hey TUGgers---how do you deal with this guilt----
(we have a spacious 2BR Lockoff---and are only using the 1 BR portion.)

Pat

p.s. all kidding aside----PM me if a few days here is a dooable thing.

Well---we now are using the lockoff---but not for fortunate reasons.

We have some residents above us who are fairly active late into the night.

So, we had to go over to sleep where we wouldn't be directly below them.

For those who have stayed at DSV----can you comment on the sound-proofing (or lack thereof).

I hope we didn't make that much noise when we were on the upper floor years ago.

For the past couples years I always request the top floor to avoid any possible noise from above.

Pat: Do call the Front Desk and complain! Your comfort is just as important as the upstairs people's social register.

PGA Qualifying Rounds

You should stop by PGA West in nearby La Quinta. There are 150 pros competing in qualifying rounds. You can also see on the golf Channel. The event ends on Monday. Recommend parking around the Stadium clubhouse if you can find a spot. My wife and I have a place at PGA West and are here to watch......We love our Maui/Kauai Marriott Timeshares too. Have fun at the Desert Springs. It' a great place as is Shadow Ridge.

At DSV II now

Hi #1 Cowboy Fan and applegirl - we are here too, at DSV II until Friday - would love to join up for coffee!
DSV II was the first timeshare we bought -

In Palm Desert: ditto also Sherman's Deli; Trader Joe's for groceries; Mimi's Restaurant on Hwy 111.

Noise above: we also always request the top floor a few weeks ahead of arriving at timeshares, and have gotten it most of the time, not always - it does make a difference.

Hi Wendy! We are arriving at DSV II today...so excited. Hopefully Pat (#1 Cowboy Fan) will chime back in here and we can meet for coffee in the clubhouse sometime.

If they don't post today I will PM him or her.

How the weather so far?

I prefer the ground floor as the patio seems more like home and you can just walk out onto the grass with the ducks. :) Also prefer not having to lug groceries and baggage up the stairs.

However, sometimes you do get noisy neighbours and they often aren't aware of it. The worst part was them sliding dining room chairs on the floor it seems. However, one visit I could hear the guy next door snoring through the walls on the same level...his wife must wear ear plugs.

These were the first Marriott built TS, I believe, and while they are great in size, I think they economized in soundproofing ... maybe it's wood construction instead of cement, as I found the same thing at Marriott Canyon Villas which is much newer - so it must be a 'desert' type of thing, no need to build to withstand hurricanes.

Enjoy...it's cold and snowy here in Toronto! :)

I'd love to still be here more than a month from now----but we have to go back to the cold Maine weather this weekend. :bawl:

The noise from above quieted down alot over the last few days---I think perhaps we have different tenants. I had asked for second floor overlooking the 5th green of the Palms Golf course---they gave me the exact building/unit---just the first floor.

It was nice to meet two TUGgers over at the Lobby area.
Apple Girl, Daisy and I had a nice chat---it's fun to get tips/tidbits of info---and of course talk about TUG!!!

After chatting with them---I may have to upgrade my timeshare portfolio!!!
(HaHa!)

Yes, it was fun to meet Wendy (daisy123) and Pat (#1 Cowboy Fan) at the clubhouse for coffee. I always enjoy meeting fellow TUGgers and talking about TUG and swapping t/s ideas and tips. Both were very nice and Wendy lives less than 2 hours from me!

Glad it worked out.

Happy vacationing to all TUGgers!

Cathyb,

I haven't worked on that lately. I just need to decide on a restaurant location and go for it. I have a whole list of TUGgers that I know live in SoCal, so it wouldn't be that hard to organize. I do think quite a few people would have fun with it, so I should start narrowing down choices. In order for San Diego folks to come, I was thinking Riverside but don't really know the area that well, so stuck on naming a restaurant to meet at. Ideas?

I like Temecula, but it's too far for the rest of us. Since I'm organizing, I don't really want to drive more than 1.5 hours!

What do you think about Newport Beach?

Chris,

Of course all So Cal TUGgers are invited! And NB would be a hop-skip for you!!! I have not found anymore info on the spa extension, but I will ask next time I'm at the clubhouse. I would love to stay at DSV I sometime, so I really hope they extend it!

I may or may not make it to the spa this week. We have so many family activities happening with the 15 of us and all....family comes first this week, spa second (or mayb even third!).

Cheers,
Janna
