I recently completed two exchanges into studio units at WPORV checking in on June 27, 2021. As a family of four (two teenage kids, 17 and 13) I went ahead and grabbed two units for space purposes. Can anyone share the likely hood of requesting and receiving two units located within close proximity to one another? I have had an ongoing search in place for a 1 or 2 bedroom for some time now although as we are limited to a single check-in day (to align with other reservations) I was happy enough getting two studios, particularly since we have an abundance of II deposits right now.

Any guidance or tips are appreciated.

Thanks,
Cory

I make specific room requests for all the reservations I have (quiet, facing this or that, near or not near parking etc depending on the resort). I call the resort directly about a week ahead, and ask to talk to the pre-arrival desk. My success rate is close to 100% with this.

And at this particular resort I was twice given rooms that did not work (happenstance or I had not yet figured out asking ahead of time) and and the front desk was very accommodating in changing rooms to ones I loved.

Chances of requesting two rooms close together = 100%. Chances of getting them are anyone's guess. It never hurts to ask.

My guess is chance of family with teens (or anyone actually) getting rooms together is well north of 90%, but OP should check room type which may affect it.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate the replies. I will plan to call the resort directly closer to check-in and request that the rooms be placed as close to each other as possible. I have done this previously with stays at various Marriott resorts with good success. I have never stayed at WPORV before so wasn't sure if they had similar flexibility. I had read a few old Vistana posts (most over 5 years old) indicating that resorts would not allow exchangers to place requests prior to check-in.

I feel like a bad parent now for when I used to request rooms as far away as possible from my teenagers ;)

Now if you just booked rooms in a different resort on the same island, you wouldn't have to request that and feel bad....

I think the key is calling within the week before check in. Before that they don't want to hear from you, and too close they are already assigning them. And it never, ever, hurts to aks!

Hopefully the new restrictions on Kauai which begin on December 2 will have been relaxed by the time of your June 2021 trip.

I did this a few years ago at WPORV, though not as an exchange. This was a home resort reservation in June. I needed 2 two-bedroom units for the group of 6 (two separate families). First, I put the request into my reservation online. Then I called the resort a week before we arrived to reiterate my request. When we got there, they had managed to put us in 2 perfect units side by side. It all worked out and was a perfect week. But I sure worried a lot beforehand. The people there were very helpful and great to deal with.
