When was the last time there was a bulk deposits for the Westins on Maui? I have had an on going request for either the Westins on Maui or the Marriott on Maui or Ko Olina. I got a call tonight asking if I would be willing to take a studio unit at Ko Olina. I ended up accepting realizing I could cancel within 24 hours. After thinking we would really prefer a 1 or 2 bedroom at any of these resorts. Am I getting too picky for a mid June to mid July week in Hawaii? Should I be happy to get a resort or cancel and hold out for a larger unit? Just not sure what I am up against exchanging into Hawaii that time of year.

I am not sure when the last bulk deposit was, but you can find this info. on the Sightings Forum.

That being said, you have requested a very high demand timeframe that includes the 4th of July and we know that Starwood avoids depositing holiday weeks - I would be very surprised to see that time frame in the Sightings, because the online inventory is the leftovers after all ongoing requests have been filled, so those weeks are unlikely to appear online, even if a few are deposited.

Can you expand your time frame?

I could expand my weeks to include all summer months and probably May. Would prefer earlier in the summer as we are planning a trip to Orlando to October. Would that make my chances very good?

Yes - big improvement - especially May and early June.

if I cancel my week, does that put me at the back of the line or back in my position of when I placed the original request?

Don't cancel it - just add to your current ongoing request.

but I used my ongoing request to book the studio week. That closes out my request doesn't it? Sorry for all the questions. I really appreciate your help

If you already booked with the same deposit - your other request has already been canceled. So yes, you would have to start all over.

I placed an ongoing request for 3 SVN properties in Hawaii over 1 year ago trading a 2 bdrm non-svn (cascades). A month ago there were bulk deposits for my timeframe between late August 2012 and October 2012. I believe the bulks were for studios and 1 bedrooms. My RF had not been filled nor did II contact me to ask if a smaller unit was acceptable since we are only a party of 2. I called to ask why I had not been contacted about my RF and at that time was offered a smaller unit which I was happy to take. I'm concerned that II will call to offer me a property that is not on my request but they will not call to ask if a smaller unit would work since they can see we are only 2 traveling. Fortunately because of the Sightings thread I knew there were units at each of my requested properties and so I was able to fill my RF. Had I missed the Sightings post I'm afraid I would have Been shut out.

Did you indicate in your initial request that 1 bedroom and/or studio would be acceptable? If so, that does odd to me that your exchange wasn't made.

Hi, how do I find the sightings forum? I am a member, but I don't see it listed. thank you.

If you look under your blue user name in your post, you will see that you are listed as a guest.

When you joined TUG, you received an email with a member's code that you have to add to your profile, for the system to recognize you as a member. (This is NOT your password.)

If you can't find the email and code:
Click on TUG Resort Databases at the top of the page,

Scroll down and click on MEMBERS CLICK HERE TO LOG IN,

The member's code will be in the top box.

Now go back to the regular BBS (the discussion forums.)

There is a blue bar at the top of the page - click on USER CP in that blue bar.

Then click on EDIT BBS MEMBER CODE

Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, put the code in the box

Save it.

ricklogan is not the first TUG member who paid TUG dues and has trouble getting set up as a TUG member. People who have joined TUG have, for years, had trouble getting both the BBS registration accomplished and the TUG general membership registration set up even though they have paid the TUG dues. :wall:

The membership registration system and its failure to automatically add the member code to the member's profile is a Rube Goldberg creation and causes much frustration and confusion. Can't it be fixed? ... eom

Mods aren't involved in the technical part of TUG, but I'm sure Brian would be happy to discuss it with you.

DeniseM, ... This thread and other TUG threads expose the problem. TUGBrian has gotten my question. It's posted right here. If TUGBrian wants to change the system, he has the power to do so with or without discussing it further with me. ... eom

Thanks Denise. I had not updated my profile and that caused the issue. Appreciate the help.
