Out of curiosity - do you rent a car upon arrival at the airport or can that be done once at the resort? We have plans to go there in May for the first time. Thanks!
Rent car at airport. There are no rental agencies that I recall near the resort. There maybe some in San Juan town near the supermarkets, but we weren't looking for them. The Westin did have fee shuttles to San Lucas and San Juan a few times a day.

Have a rental car waiting for you at the airport and avoid the charge you will have to pay to be transported from the airport to your hotel. And back when you leave. Per person I think and it can get expensive. We have used BBB, a small and friendly company. You will tell the taxi people at the airport that you are renting from BBB and they will get you transportation to the BBB Office which is nearby. Drive carefully. Take the toll road into the center of San Jose del Cabo and the super markets are there. Art walk on Thursday evenings in San Jose del Cabo. Enjoyed Jasmine in San Jose. Find out which night they have traditional dancing. The road to Flora Farm is a test - very rutted and bumpy but the food is great. The pork rib roast is expensive but memorable. We charged everything because you get the best exchange rate but be sure there is no foreign transaction fee. Be sure and check before you leave what the exchange rate is. Today a peso is worth just a bit under 5 cents or 20 per dollar. Don't make a currency exchange at the airport if you can avoid it. Enjoy your trip because the resort and Mexico are beautiful.

Either way. But is normally cheaper to rent online from the USA.
