Hello all: just wondering if anyone has opinions about which of these to choose for an upcoming timeshare vacay? The Lagunamar is farther north in the hotel zone, which might be busier? I haven't been to Cancun in over 20 years, so not sure which to choose. Do all rooms at both places have good views? Thx.

What size unit? Studios are much much better at Lagunamar. The balcony in the 2bd is way nicer/larger at Islander. The location of Lagunamar is superior. I believe that the beach at the Islander has mostly eroded. You can walk to groceries and many restaurants from Lagunamar nearly all rooms have ocean view. Food prices on the resort are less expensive at the Islander.
Loungers by the pool are well cushioned at Lagunamar. If you need laundry, there are in room washer/dryer at Lagunamar, while Islander has a service for a fee

It would be a studio unit. Thanks for the input! I was definitely leaning toward Lagunamar as there was an indication it could sleep 4 as opposed to 2 at the Islander. That's too bad about the beach erosion!

There is no contest between the studios. Lagunamar has a queen bed and sleeper sofa. two burner cooktop, apt size fridge, convection microwave. The balcony is useable with a table and 4 chairs

The lock off or studio as you call it at the Royal Islander has 2 Double beds in it. The resort limits the occupancy to 2 but if you have 2 adults and up to 2 children under 12 they do allow it. There is a microwave and a refrigerator. Remember at the Royals daily maid service is included. There is also a table with 2 chairs, again based on the occupancy rules. The beach has started coming back-- 1 row of palapas is there. If I remember correctly from when we stayed at the Lagunamar there were far fewer palapas and they were very close together. There are laundry facilities at the RI with a lovely attendant to do your laundry. The cost is minimal. In addition we found the food prices at the Lagunamar much higher than at the Royal Resorts, both in the market and restaurants
