We are planning a trip to the new Westin Lagunamar. Can anyone comment on the beach ? We love walking along the beach, swimming ,snorkeling but hate weeds !:)

I stayed last year at the resort beside the Lagunamar - Park Royal Pyramides and the beach is amazing. It is a long stretch in either direction of great beach. Also, right in between the 2 resorts is a small Mayan ruins. Enjoy your stay.

I checked out the beach in June and I agree with the above post. The beach seemed nice with a decent amount of sand. There is no doubt that Wilma took most of the sand / beach that was there but what is left is still very nice.

I did recently read something (I believe on Trip Advisor) that suggested that the beach was unwalkable during high tide and extremely small at all other times. This review didn't match what I saw in June but I doubt the person that wrote the review was lying. I will be there on Friday and I will comment on the beach in my review.

We were there in August...

I worte a review of Westin Lagunamar in TUG's resort review section. I also pasted it here in a thread for non-TUGgers. Here is the link to the photo album of our visit. There are a few good shots of the beach behind Lagunamar.

I don't think there were any major hurricane that affected Cancun this year, so I would think the beach condition has not changed much since our visit.

The beach has not changed much since I was here in June or since the pictures that are posted above. The beach hasn't been to usable so far this week as there has been a pretty big riptide. The ocean has been rough the past couple of days due to the outskirts of the hurricane that just came through this weekend.

We want to see a photo of you at the swim-up bar - drinking something orange.

The pictures from today would have been perfect but I forgot to wear my hat!
