We are confirmed a week at this resort. It does not state North so we are probably in the South Buildings. My question is: While staying in the South do we have use of the pool and other facilities in the North Buildings? If so, can you walk to them? Hard to tell on the resort map.

Yes - it's one big property - guests share all amenities. If your confirmation doesn't state WKORV-North - then you are in the South Phase - buildings 2-4.

On a related note. Just booked WKORV unit 2203. I show online that this has a patio on the second floor instead of a balcony. Sounds interesting. Is this good or bad? Also, what kind of view would this unit have if any? Thanks!

I just reserved one too, unit number is 220507, looks like an ocean view?
As an exchanger, even if I own many starwood, do they honor view designation?
For Marriott, some resorts do and some resorts don't (like Myrtle Beach).

That is just an error in the description - the 2nd floor units have balconys, except for the studio units on the south side - they do not.

Starwood reserves the right to put exchangers in any unit that fits the description of the unit reserved. At this point, they are no longer accepting requests from exchangers, so you will just have to wait and see.

There are actually 2 units in building 2 that have the balconies as described. They are located in the corner of building 2 with the lobby building, right above the sales offices. They would be considered ocean view, but they are pretty far back. Also, the balconies have low walls defining them so you can't see very far when you are sitting down. However, they are much bigger than the standard lanais. I haven't been inside, but you can see them from the grassy area in front of the lobby building.

Incidentally, there are a couple of units like this in the North property, right above the lobby area.

How do you tell what unit number you are booked in? We are staying there in March but all I can find is a confirmation number:doh:

You cannot tell from the exchange confirmation, because the unit will be assigned at check-in.

After you log-on your II account, go to "my history", click "exchange".
Under the resort code and unit size, you can see unit number you assigned.

The problem (and question) is, wondering if exchangers can get that unit at check-in :)

Thanks for that information. My unit says 211816, 2 BR. Does that mean anything?

Wow, doesn't look so good for us. Oh well, just very happy to be there. On your map, Denise, it looks like 16 & 18 are on the opposite side of the Keiki pool.

The pirate pool is the keiki pool for the North side that you are more than welcomed to use. You are actually in a really good spot if you have little kids. You can walk to either pool from your unit. It is probably the same distance to both keiki pools. The main pool on the North side is a little further of a walk.

Actually there are a few units on the south side where the studios do have balconies. I was assigned to them once and was not very happy. One is located in the corner above the sales office and directly across kinda of above the restaurant the studios have patios with a wall. YOu can click the link in my signature. I took pictures.

The Keiki pool is a different pool - between buildings 2 & 3. The Pirate Ship Pool is between Bldg. 2 and Bldg. 5 - in this picture, your units would be right below the number 2 - the Pirate Ship Pool is tucked into the corner of Bldg. 5-

construction alert

We are at WKORVN now and we got a flyer today notifying us that they are beginning construction of a childrens playground by the pirate ship. We checked it out amd the construction is going on in the elevated grassy area that you can see part of in the left of side of Denice's picture. The construction will be going on for a month. So if you are in buildings 2,6,or 5 and near the pirate pool you may hear some constru tion noise.

This is great news! We will be there in January with our 18 month old and four year old.

Oh good grief......we are senior citizens, one of which is recovering from cancer. Going to Maui was on his "bucket list" and we were hoping to satisfy his request. Although the building is close to the childrens pool it looks like there is a large grassy area between the building and the pool so loud noise hopefully will not be a factor. However are we by the road where you can hear cars passing? I think it was RickandCindy who were unhappy because of road noise and they were in Bldg. 2.

Aw-oh just checked. Rick and Cindy were in Bldg. 4. We are in Bldg. 2......so far.

Remember - At this resort, people are not usually put in the unit on their confirmation. The resort can put you anywhere they want.

Also - are you going during a school holiday? If school is in session there aren't likely to be many children there.

You are not by the road at all - look at the first picture I posted. Your unit is directly under the #2 - I mean right under the number - not just in that building.

Keeping in mind that the resorts can put you where they want...we are confirmed in 1 bedrooms at both Westin Princeville and WKORV-N for late September- mid-October. Our units listed on our II page are: Princeville = 2103 and WKORV-N = 5120.

If we get these units - where would they be and are they okay placements? If I understand you Denise these look like 1st floor units and I'm a little concerned about foot traffic in front of our unit. As a Starwood owner and given time of year would there be possibility of asking for different placement on arrival and getting it?

Does anyone have any thoughts/experience on these units?

Has anyone who booked via II actually gotten the unit numbers from the confirmation? Are II bookings available more than 8 months out?

The room allocation pecking order was discussed in another thread from way back.

Direct renters get the view they paid for in their booking.

WKORV(N) owners get priority for their deeded view at 12-8 months out.

After that, everyone is first-come first-served, based on their booking timestamp, in something like the following order:

- multiple week WKORV(N) owners
- WKORV(N) owners
- SVN Elite
- SVN SOs
- II

There are links to resort maps in Starwood Owner Resources at the top of the forum, so you can figure out exactly where the units are.

1st number - building
2nd number - floor
next 2 or 4 numbers - unit or units

The resort will not take an advance request from exchangers - period. So your only option is to ask for another unit at check-in, if you are not happy with the unit you are assigned. They may or may not accommodate you. It seems to help if you are an Elite Owner.
