Westin Ka'anapali (II exchange) - is it possible to rebook into a larger unit?

Good morning!

I booked 2 studio units at WKORV and WKORN April 24 and April 25 (total 6 people). However, due to some misscommunications everyone is flying into Maui on April 24. If you count that some members of the party are carrying a few more pounds of "baggage"...400-479 sq ft per studio unit sounds a little cramped. :p I used a silver season Cabo studio for both trades.

I looked at booking another room at the Sheraton, Westin, or the WKOVR resort but all the rates are $400 per night.

What are the chances that a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom will open up for the April 24 date? I realize that I may lose the II exchange fee but considering it is the shoulder season would this be a very likely scenario? I am assuming that I would only qualify for this with a flexchange search? If it is booked the same day, would I lose my previously paid exchange fee?

Thanks!

It is possible to trade up to a bigger unit, we just did it.
I had reserved a week in December in a 1BR unit at WKORV-N.
Then my in-laws decided to join us, I kept watching daily on II to see if any 2BR units were available for our dates.
When I saw one available I quickly called II and was able to cancel our previous 1BR reservation and reserve the 2BR unit that we needed.
The only thing I was out was the additional exchange fee.
But as you know, that is nothing compared to having to pay $400 a night at the Westin or Sheraton resort!
So good luck, be patient and keep looking for what you need every day or multiple times a day if your schedule allows.
You will have a great time, WKORV and WKORV-N are wonderful!

Thanks!
