We are flying there next week:
1. Did you take the ferry from SRR via Westin ferry or did you use a ferry company? What were the taxi fees to get to the ferry and then from where it docks to the Westin?
2. St John- favorite activities to do if you do not have a car.
3. Specific buildings to request? I will be paying for one night and then using points for one night.
3. Transportation from Ferry to Marriott's Frenchman Cove timeshare.

Thanks so much, Sue

No idea what SRR is...did you mean the St. Thomas airport, STT?

2. St John- favorite activities to do if you do not have a car.
You certainly don't need a car to visit most/all of the attractions on the east side of St. John...taxis are ubiquitous and comparatively inexpensive (though keep in mind that they charge per person and per bag). Cruz Bay and the east/north side beaches are the usual east side activities. If you rent a car for a day or two, Coral Bay and the west side beaches/reefs become a possibility (you could probably also prearrange a dropoff/pickup from the Westin to the sest side as well...just don't depend on picking up a taxi there).

3. Specific buildings to request? I will be paying for one night and then using points for one night.
What and how did you book? WSJ is in four phases w/different (though overlapping) rooms types in each - Sunset Bay, Coral Vista, Bay Vista, and Virgin Grand.

3. Transportation from Ferry to Marriott's Frenchman Cove timeshare.
Which Ferry? Assuming you mean ferries from St John to St Thomas, there are three (plus the car barge) the Westin, the Cruz Bay to Red Hook, and the Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie.

Some good discussion of the ferry options in that thread. The master WSJ thread linked above has a good discussion of best beaches and costs for the taxi's to them (which are per person).

If it’s your first time there, I recommend the Westin ferry unless you are renting a car on St. Thomas and bringing it over to St. John.

My opinion: car rental not needed on first visit, there is plenty to fill a week that is doable without one. If we go back we will rent a car and explore some further-flung sights but I would not have wanted a car the first time.

Is it true that if you go with the Westin ferry you get unlimited trips to St. Thomas on it for the week? I read that somewhere.

If that’s true, I didn’t know or don’t remember it. I found (perhaps the same page that you saw):

which says that you do get unlimited shopping trips to St. Thomas. If that was something you were inclined to do, it would make the Westin ferry a pretty decent deal. I would call the resort and ask whether or not it’s true unless someone here is able to confirm it.

If you do take the Westin Ferry to and from St John you get unlimited trips to Red Hook (St Thomas) for the duration of your stay. But only one of the ferries each day is a "shopping ferry" which means that in addition to the ferry ride to Red Hook there is a complementary shuttle to/from Charlotte Amalie as well. In 2024 the 10AM from the WSJ and the 4PM from Red Hook are the "shopping ferries".

You do not even need to go back to St Thomas. Unless you like cruise ship shopping. Just got back from 23 days St. John...not a fan of Saint Thomas but to each his own. If I had no car..I would taxi to Red Hook..eat and drink..people ferry over to St John. Again just preference.
