I purchased a westin flex from the developer to repro my resale week, and as expected, 4 weeks later, I got a welcome email last Friday, but it didn't show up in my Vistana account. As I learned here, if everything is perfect, it should have shown up in my account, right?
Anyways, I called the owner service, and they had both contracts put in my account in their system, but it has not been reflected on the website immediately. I was told that it would take 24 hrs to be updated. And they also said if it wouldn't be working then try to disconnect or connect the new contract. I'm concerned that disconnect / reconnect a contract would be safe. Anyone has an experience with that?

Just be patient. Takes a few days to show up online. If it’s not there in a week, feel free to take action.

It turned out a bad thing happened to me - ownership record mismatch.
I'd like to share details as much as possible for future reference.

Rather than being patient for a week, I emailed them after 24 hrs. And I got a response 10 hours later.
I'm pasting a part of the representative's email:
Upon further review of your ownership account, your Westin Flex ownership is not linked to your XXXX ownership since the deeds were not recorded the exact same way as it was your Westin Flex ownership. As a result of this, you would need to create a new online account with a different password to manage this ownership online, I apologize for the inconvenience.

When I purchased the Westin flex, I gave the names and the ownership type that matched my current week's deeds.
I asked the details and I'm waiting for their response. Let's see how the issue would be resolved.

Any tips welcome!

You may need to redeed the newest purchase to get the names on the deeds to match exactly to what you already own.

Thanks for the tip.
Btw, I haven't received the recorded deed for the Westin flex VOI from the vistana affiliated title company. Is that common for the flex product? or will be mailed soon?

If you don't receive it, you can look it up on the Orange County Florida recorders website.

This is a common problem and there are warnings about it all over this message board and in the various FAQs. If you are trying to add a purchase to an existing ownership account, the deeds must be titled EXACTLY the same. That means names in the same order, same exact use of middle initials or middle names, etc. if there is ANY difference, even one letter different or the names in reverse order, they will put it into a new account. I’m sorry you fell into this trap, you will probably need to have the deeds correctly titled (necessitating new titling and filing of deeds) to fix it.

Depending on when you bought, it might not be recorded yet.

Yes likely. Bought it around on 09/30.

Trying to figure out what the system has and where the mismatch happened.

I missed the info that you’d bought from the developer. In that case I think it was their job to get the deed correct (they KNEW you had existing ownership because one purpose of your purchase was to qualify that ownership) and so I think you should clearly take the position that this is their mess to clean up.

Furthermore, it shouldn’t even be that hard for them to clean up. They USED to be less picky about deeds matching exactly, and it’s certainly possible for them to just put your ownerships into the same account, regardless of any minor titling differences. One would hope that’s what they would do, it would certainly be the easiest (and cheapest) solution.

I've got 3 accounts for my ownerships because of the titling by the third party title company. The only time I need to use the 2 smaller accounts is when it's time to pay maintenance fees - they linked the accounts to allow common management of the StarOptions from them from any of the accounts I sign on with. Kind of a pain but I avoided the need to seek retitling to correct it all to a single account and there would, of course, be no guarantee that the result would be error-free. If it were me in this position, I would just wait until the new account shows up and ensure that they all show up on the StarOptions ownership part on line. It would also be good to ensure they link them all to the same II account, of course, but those at least have a common sign on.

Wow, they are soooo strict on wording. If I knew it, I would have only my name on the deeds. I regret I just put my wife’s name as well on the deeds even though she didn't care it.

In the existing deed, "AAA and BBB, husband and wife as tenants by the entirety."
In the Westin Flex deed, "AAA and BBB, her husband, tenants by the entirety".

So, the representative claimed the ownerships are differently recorded. To me the deeds seem to say the same ownership.
Legally are they different? I don't have any knowledge regarding it.

I will ask them to update the flex deed to have the exact same word if it's required.

Ah it seems wrong. AAA is husband and BBB is wife. So, the wording is not exactly true.
It seems the order of the names on the deeds are flipped?

That's the exact word in the flex deed. So, the order of names is same in both deeds. but doesn't it say BBB is the husband? In fact, AAA is the husband (me)

I searched other deeds in the orange county website, the correct one should be "AAA and BBB, his wife, tenants by the entirety" to be the same ownership of the week's deed even if wording is different, as I understand. When I purchased the Westin Flex, I clearly indicated AAA is husband.

It might be worth complaining to the title company about the improper designation of who the husband and wife are; they might fix an obvious error like that. If it were me and I were seeking to get the ownership in the same online account, though, I would use the precise same language as the deed for the other one. They do separate deeds into accounts based on the inclusion of a middle initial, middle name, and other minor differences that seem inconsequential to mere mortals.

As many people expected, my salesperson contacted several departments and helped me out. Now two contracts are connected somehow. :)
I can see two contracts from my old account, but what I own page and maintenance fee show only the week contract.
I created a new account and connected the flex contract, and I also can see two contracts from my new account, but what I own page and maintenance fee show only the flex contract.
Now I'm trying to make sure the ownership record of the flex contract is correct.
