Is anyone having problems reserving week 52 for 12/25/22-1/1/23? We are owners of 2 weeks at week 52 (1st one purchased through Westgate and the 2nd as a resale). However, this year we just noticed that they gave us Jan 1-8th, which is week 53 on the Westgate timeshare calendar. When I complained, they said I actually own "Holiday" (New Year’s Day), not week 52 and thus assigned 1/1-1/8/23. However, the title insurance for the resale we purchased states "week 52". Our initial purchase through Westgate in 2012 called it "week 52". Any suggestions on how I can reclaim my week 52 for 12/25/22-1/1/23 would be greatly appreciated. What's frustrating is that I also own week 51 and they gave me 12/18-12/25. I now have a week with no reservation between my week 51 and 2 weeks 52.

This seems like a typical Westgate move. The only suggestion I would have is to keep calling and see if you can make your way to someone in the Westgate Corporate Owners Relations Office. In my experience, you most likely won't be able to get transferred there, but hopefully can get someone to call you back. As difficult as it is dealing with Westgate their Reps do make good notes in your file when you talk with them, so anyone who looks at it should know your issue.

Wish I had some advise for you, but hopefully you can work this out.

Called today to make my March 2024 reservation. Just a refresher for those who have not read the entire thread, any week purchased from Westgate after sometime around 2009 has a has a resale restrictions that only allows the resale purchaser to reserve their stay 60 days in advance of check-in. Obviously, that would make it virtually impossible to reserve a high demand ski week. My resale week was originally sold prior to that, so does not contain any restrictions. Although, my online account has a restriction placed on it and I have to call Owners Relations every year to reserve my week. Owners Relations is option #4 when you call in and is different than the Vacation Specialist (option 3) you would normally call to reserve a week.

My first call today was to the Vacations Specialist and she was not able to reserve my week to the restriction and had no way for her to get around it. She told me to call Owner Relations.

When calling Owner Relations things went as smoothly as they possibly could, other the the 20 minutes I was on hold. I usually get a little pushback and have to remind them of a note on my account from 2021 by Richard from Westgate Corporate offices confirming that I am allowed to make my reservations 11 months in advance. Today I just told the Owner Relations that I was calling to reserve my week and she made the reservation without asking any questions. I don't know if she saw the note on my account or not, but there was no hesitation in making my reservation.

I did have to pay the estimated fees for 2004, which isn't that big of a deal. They have threatened about requiring the prepaying a few years back when I called, but this the first time the followed through on it.

On a side note, when I was there last month, I was invited to an owners update and here was my response

Thank you for your email. However, I attended one of these “owner updates” when I was here two years ago. Since I am a resale owner, the person who I meet with was belligerent towards me and told more lies than I could count. He also, threatened to make it as difficult as possible for me to reserve my week in the future since I didn’t agree to pay Westgate $20,000.

So, have no intention of wasting one second of my vacation time listening to the Westgate lies and B.S. I enjoy my stays here, but want absolutely nothing to do with those of you who work in the sales department.

So basically you are able to reserve when the booking window opens at 11 months prior to use - and payment is required.

Yes I was able to reserve at 11 months and they did require the prepayment of estimated fees. Said if fees are less than estimated I can request a refund in September if they are less when they finalize the fees for next year.

My first year making a reservation I asked the Vacation Specialist where in my documents does it say I can not make a reservation beyond 60 days. She said all documents are available in my online account and I should review them. I told her already had read them and found nothing that allowed them to do restrict my ability to make a reservation at 11 months. I asked to speak to someone who could show me where in my documents it states I am restricted. That is how I ended up at the Corporate Owners Relations and since there is no such restriction on my week, he put a note in my account that I am allowed to make reservations at 11 months. I still have to go through owner relations as the Vacation Specialist is not able to override the restriction on my account. I have asked that the update my online account to let me make the reservation online so I don't have to waste everyone's time once a year to make my reservation, but the said they can't do that.

It would be interesting to see one of the deeds that contains the wording that restricts reservation on resale weeks.

I have been a resale owner for over 10 years here and never had an issue booking a ski week, but I can't do it online and have to call Westgate 11 months in advance. I do really enjoy this resort, but damn, Westgate treats resale owners about as unfriendly as they can, but at least I get my ski week. The annual dues do seem to outpace the other resorts, so who know how many original owners are left and how many are resale.
