It was announced this week that the much loved DVC fan site, MouseOwners, will sunset mid-Sept. The site has a marvelous community of witty and tightly connected contributors. I hope these will migrate to TUG and find it a warm and friendly home.

Welcome, MouseOwners, to TUG!

PS. I mean no disrespect to MO's fabulous and generous team of hosts & admin by posting this welcome. It is my sincere hope that you also find TUG to be a warm and friendly place to maintain stress-free exchanges with the MO family you've nurtured lovingly for many years.

So sad to see MO leaving. I preferred it to Disboards.

That is a real shame, please let them know they are all welcome on TUG and we'd even create a new forum for them if necessary!

I am surprised a site with that much traffic and content did not have someone willing to take over the hosting and maintenance and domain name?

As I'm sure you'll keenly understand, a community isn't something that is simply "passed off" to another. It remains too deeply personal for the owners (in a good way). If I understand correctly, the owners intend to keep the domain name as a measure of protection against misuse. Borrowing from their admin's comments: It is their baby ... and they don't wish to adopt out the baby. (This is a delicate time ... )

Thank you for that generous offer. I let one of the admins know. I am not sure what the long term plan is. There's a members group on FB that is discussing just using that or perhaps a new forum, but I am not a FB person so I have no idea what they are planning if anything.

I admit im not sure what the actual plans are for the content, the site, the host, the domain name, etc...I was just concerned the plan was to just shut it all off and all that content would be lost which would be a tragedy.
