Want feedback on how people are finding the website reservations. I tried this morning on two different browsers to see how things were faring - chrome and safari- signed into two accounts and was refreshing constantly starting 10 seconds before 9:00:00. Nothing ever came up for next year (Thursday checkins so today should be the 12 month window day). I called in afterwards to see and the rep said everything could have gone within 10 secs., but literally was refreshing at 9:00:00 and nothing showed, using a 1 GB speed Internet connection. Interestingly, never got the refresh page wheel (often there's a few seconds wait when refreshing at 9AM). Is that's what's been happening? In almost 20 years I've never encountered this. And of course the dial in system doesn't recognize my phone number..grrrr.
Anyway, appreciate any feedback if there's a new trick that I'm missing.

What resort and dates?

ETA: Yesterday was the day for the 13 month release on points, Friday is the 12 month release. Was this for weeks in Aruba 12 months out. If so keep trying though I'd book in the AM if available then add a day if you want to arrive on Thursday?

I'm a weeks owner. Every year when I book, I first check on the Marriott site and find the link "when's the earliest that I can book" (or something similar). Marriott opens an entire week at a time roughly 12 months in advance. That is why I check to find the exact date for making a res. Also, for me, a weeks owner I need to call in to reserve my two units at the 13 month point.

Same here but I don't put as much stock in that date as some here do. I've seen it wrong or not the reality several times, esp for points reservations.

OP for points or weeks keep trying as inventory is often not released at the official release time/date.

It was for a week and today was the release date. It was very strange. I’ve done this dozens of times and never encountered this.

I bet they didn’t release inventory on time so keep trying

when you guys say release date - do you mean 13 or 12 months before the day you want to stay? Or is there an actual day of the week they release more inventory? And while I’m asking are there many resorts that only have certain days you can check in for a week booking? I believe a member here told me los suenos does this so maybe it didn’t show up because of the day of arrival?

Have people seen this happen that the inventory is released later at 22 months? I actually tried for 15-20 minutes and spoke with a rep who said inventory sometimes goes in 10 seconds and his only suggestion was to.exchange in Interval. It was truly a weird conversation, especially since I’m an enrolled owner. But I was trying to reserve an owned week.

Release date isn't directly 12 or 13 months prior to the day you want to check in. It is based on the first checkin date for the weekend you are looking to check in. So if a resort has Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday checkin, you would determine the date for Thursday then try to reserve 12 or 13 months prior on that date. If a resort has Friday as the first checkin day, you guessed it, reserve 12 or 13 months prior to that date. Hint, it won't be the same day of the week the checkin day is. MVC has a handy tool on their website that displays the actual inventory release dates, but it can be important to understand the mechanics as the website can be wrong too.

@chinh9 If you are trying to book Los Suenos, it likely will not be available at the release dates because this property is not in the trust (since it is international) and relies on owners electing their weeks for points for it to be available for points. Having said that, it's not impossible to book. Use the wait-list and check every day. I was able to book a studio for a week that I later upgraded to a 1 bedroom. I also had to collect the nights to string the week together. Also there's only 24 villas, so it's a harder one to book. Good luck!

This thread is so off the rails. OP won't tell us the resort or week they were trying to get. Also, your internet speed is wholly irrelevant, as all issues booking online are based on the lag at the MVC server.

Yes I have. In my experience this happens a lot for points reservations though sometimes the release is early rather than late. It sounds like they gave you a generic answer with assumptions. There are weeks at some resorts where this happens but I can't think of a single resort where I would expect a Thursday start date would be unavailable at exactly 12 months out for an early August week, at least of the ones that have Thursday check ins.

I assume they are trying to book Aruba Surf Club since they have that in their profile and SC does have a Thursday check in option.

Yes, it was the Aruba Surf club but I didn’t specify because it was more of a general question about weak reservations and the specific resort didn’t seem relevant. And while it’s true that Internet speed isn’t usually an issue since the hang up is often with the Marriott server, I mentioned it because often there’s a small refresh delay and yesterday the refresh was immediate repeatedly yet nothing popped up. I’ve had it in the past where perhaps I was a fraction of a second early so had to refresh and then it popped up but the calendar never showed any gold dates.
As a longtime member I’m a bit taken aback by your response.

I should know better than to post from my phone, looking at my typos. Referring to Dioxide and Dean's comments, just to confirm- I was talking about a week reservation at exactly 9AM EST at the 12 month mark from the first date of release for that week. It is interesting (although frustrating) that you've seen this at some resorts; I always assumed that when someone got closed out it was because they didn't click on the date fast enough/it wasn't processed fast enough (whether their Internet provider or more likely a Marriott hang up), not that a connection at 9:00:00 would never show any gold boxes for any date of the week.

Any feedback on how much later it's happened in hte past? I kept on trying for about 10-15 minutes, but do you know if I should just keep on refreshing longer?

I'm not sure but I'd figure a few hours to a day or 2.
