The first four (4) on the list are very good for grilling and etc.
The next nine (9) are not sold in our area of Virginia.

The best hot dog is the one which _you_ like the most.

At our house, we're partial to brats. But a bit of hot dog make a sneaky way to get pills into the dog. He isn't fussy about brands.

Hebrew National and Nathan's are the best that are available in my area. I always passed over the Ballpark hot dogs, but I think I'll give them a try.

Kogels hot dogs are the best out there. Mid Michigan has a very strong German population and Kogels are linked to that tradition.

We had Nathan’s last summer in Myrtle Beach and were very underwhelmed. Compared to Kogels, it was not good. Michigan has some of the highest meat standards in the nation and it shows with the hot dogs.

Great, now I have a craving for a Kogels Red Hot (bologna pickled with chili peppers).

We used to work a booth at Mile High Stadium during the Bronco games, and Coors Field for the Rockies' games at our church's food booth, and people would always ask, "What kind of hot dog is this. I just love these dogs." I would take a package out of the trash and show them, "Oscar Meyer All-Beef Wieners." I mean a lot of people would ask that question. It was a regular thing. They loved the dogs, but they really seemed to love the peppers and onions we added on request. I also loved those peppers. When we went to the Red Sox field a few years back, I was disappointed in the dogs. They were plain and no peppers and onions. Just mustard. Aramark runs the show at both venues. Go figure.

Very good. I always buy the Ballpark Angus bun-length franks. And we had hot dogs tonight!

Those are my wife’s favorite. We brought some to Molokai from Oahu just in case they didn’t have them here. We always have one hot dog dinner on our trips. Great for lunch then too.

Richard.

the coney listed for Detroit actually has two variations. In the Detroit area it's called the Wet version because of the chili. Drive north to the Flint area and it’s the dry version. Not a chili topping at all. Just the ground beef well seasoned with the mustard topped with onions. Regardless, what makes these the best anywhere to me is the Kogel Vienna Natural Casing dog used on them and the steamed buns they are served on. Love the snap.

I've always been a Hebrew National fan, but I might have to check out some of the different brands that scored well.

Does anyone else score their hot dogs before grilling? Ever since seeing it done on a cooking show, if I have time I will do it. Makes for some enhanced grill flavoring.

I haven't done the cross hatch but I spiral slice them and they come out good and kids think it's cool.
