This will be a helpful feature.

When I drive to new places.

Which may be sometime in 2025.

I don't understand what this feature does compared with what WAZE does now. I have used Google maps on my phone but I like WAZE.

As a cyclist, I don't like Waze as heavy traffic will suddenly appear on a typically quiet backroad. :)

Neither can effectively navigate around Mardi Gras parade traffic despite parade routes published nearly a year in advance and basically being the same every year.

Neither can pronounce street names correctly.

Neither has options for trucks and RVs or other tall vehicles to avoid low bridges etc.

Well I tried it and it did NOT work at all.

Let me explain. I'm pretty sure it works fine DURING a parade. There are enough cell phones along the parade route sending relatively still signals that satellites would see that as traffic and the algorithms would say 'avoid' and direct you elsewhere. But the hours leading up to a parade the streets are empty in preparation, along with some areas for floats to setup. So google satellites don't 'see' any traffic and think the parade routes are fantastic routes to drive on.

Locals don't put that info into Waze because it's not novel. It's not like 'oooh there's an accident, let me tell people.' It happens every year, people know, they know where to go. And a lot of them have the time off work, so it's not prime commuting hours. Plus, it's a PITA to input that and Waze isn't set up for that kind of user input (apparently they were beta testing something that could work last Mardi Gras season). But still, this shouldn't be user input! This should be coded in because it's a regular, annual event with published traffic detours.

It shouldn't be so hard to get a maps app to do this. But apparently it is.

For the most part, I know where I'm going and how to get there, but I wish that 'bicycle' were one of the routing choices so Waze would show- or highlight- bike lanes or routes. As it is, one has to choose 'auto, electric, or motorcycle' which aren't always the best routes for cyclists.

yes, WAZE cannot anticipate or forecast a parade route. Maybe in some future release they could put in warnings
