We live about 5 miles from there and have visited numerous times over the past 30 years for the restaurants.

When my mother used to visit, we took her to dine at the large indoor restaurant with some outdoor seating for the view. There are much better restaurants for the price.

We ate at the patio restaurant for the last time about 1 1/2 years ago. The fired fish sandwich tasted like it was previously prepared and frozen.
There is a pub in town the has the best fish and chips we have ever had anywhere.

Sometimes we wander down to the pool area which is nice and on Long Island Sound. The large building behind the pool was built not long ago has private condos. This upset timeshare owners because in blocks the water view.

We know people that have had short stays there and were pleased with the unit.

I have driven by the resort and have spent some time in the area and have heard some commentaries about it. This is not an easy resort to trade into, so advance planning will undoubtedly be necessary. This is a nice area of the Connecticut coast, but the coast here is rather rocky and not the soft sands of Cancun and Florida. The resort is famous for wedding parties. November thru April is off season and not a predictable great time weather wise for the area. Summer is a time when the area will be very crowded. Check the reviews here for more information.

My parents owned there for like 20 years. It was great in the beginning when they first built it and it went a bit downhill from there. Being I have not been there in a very long time I cannot comment to how it is now, but we did have a lot of fond memories there.

It is the Long Island Sound so there can be a lot of jelly fish.Beach is small. They have a pool/hot tub right by the water which is/was nice. They have activities for the kids and you can also use kayaks and other beach things they have available. At least that is how it was when we were there, but again, it was years ago.

The main building is/was nice and has an indoor pool/hot tub and gym. A lot of weddings there. I would not eat there. Overpriced and not that great. Once in a while we would buy a drink and sit on the outside patio. You are better off in the surrounding towns for some good Italian food and seafood. Great launching point to visit Old Saybrook, Mystic, Gillette Castle and the town of Essex, some state parks and the casinos if you are into that.

The units are small with lofts. Some have only one bathroom. They have balconies. My parent's looked out at the water but it was next to the restaurant/hall which got noisy at night when there was a band playing. No elevators and the stairs are steep, but the building are low rise and just 2 floors.

The resort also has hotel rooms.

Many people became owners so as to have day use of the beach and pool.

Our son always says he would like to go back. he is very sentimental about all the time he spent there with his grandparents.

Thanks so much Winniwoman.. I'm from Mass originally and my grandparents loved out on the tip of Long Island . When I come back to visit New England and NY, I've been adding in a ts week and invite family/friends for a vacation inside a vacation!! Weve got Smuggs for Sept and weve got a crowd going up. I'm searching already for next year and this resort has popped up. The beach piece was appealing. Thx again to you and all for responses.:coffee::hi:
