Hello all...a general question. I have am elderly parent who sometimes becomes incontinent at night. She wears Attends but wonder, should I ask ahead of check in for a waterproof mattress protector ? Bring my own ?
When our kids were very small I always carried a waterproof bed pad for their beds on our timeshare/hotel stays. It was almost the size of a crib mattress and it was flannel bonded to rubber. I bought a few in Florida when our oldest was just months old (mid '80's) because I knew I would eventually need them. I had never (& not since) seen them in Canada. I haven't run across any timeshares with anything but the common bed-bug mattress encasement but I don't think they're water-proof. Might be good to call and ask if the resort has any, I'm pretty sure they would appreciate you bringing one if they don't stock them.

I would agree with Diane's recommendation. I work in long term care and our facility uses underpads that she references for our residents. You can look online and you will find different options. You can put it on top of the bed sheet or even under the bed sheet. They are easily washable and you could get a few of them. Certainly saves on linen changes and/or wet mattresses.
I took care of my mom near the end of her life and she was totally incontinent and would not wear diapers. I bought washable pads that were the witdth of a twin size bed and they were life savers.

You can also purchase a disposal version of this pad, which might be a better option if you're traveling. That way if it becomes wet, you can just toss it. This type of pad is what was used in the nursing home where one of my relatives resided. The staff put them routinely under the sheets on all their beds.
Here's an example - there appear to be a wide variety of sizes, absorbances, etc., available in the disposable version:
Costco sells the blue disposable underpads by the case - but they’re with pet supplies . We used them for my incontinent mother in bed, chairs and in the car; under cat litter boxes, when repotting plants to contain soil and water and others places that escape my memory.
