Returned from Mazatlan on Dec 31st. Only place I used my Am. Exp card was El Cid El Morrow towers, Alamo Car Rental and Walmart Pharmacy in Mazatlan. Someone has charged my account for travel service on Dec 26, Jan2 and 4th. Today AM exp called to check if these were my charges.
I have writen to Alamo and El Cid. Lets see what AM exp finds.

Surprisingly the people in town were very warm, friendly and honest. Few Times I gave extra money ( by mistake) to little shop owners but they returned the extra money to me.
Please be careful.

I took 3 other couples to PV a couple years back and we used an ATM acrosss the street from the resort, not associated with the resort. It took about 6 mos. (!), but all 3 couples who used the ATM were hit with withdrawals from South America. No way was I expecting it came from the MX trip 6 mos. back...I was accusing a hotel in Chicago on a more recent trip.

The bank told me the data sometimes takes time to sell in bulk outside the area. My bank and I didn't catch it until they had burned through $8k very quickly. It was insured, thank goodness.

Doesn't sound like you used an ATM, but wanted to warn people to avoid 'off property' ATMs or those outside banks.

Why in the world would that surprise you?? Not sure what source you had for info before you went to Mazatlan, but it obviously can't be trusted...

up date on my AM Exp... charges

Have disputed the charges with AM Exp company. I only presented the card to 4 of the above places only. So one of them is a culprit. Am Exp. seem to be very receptive. They have canceled my card and sending me a new card.

Regarding Surprisingly.... what I meant to say was that people in town were honest. Whenever you go out of country there are elements in society are geared toward praying on Tourist. These people in Mazatlan were honest exception of one of the 4 above.
