Was told in owners review meeting that Embarc will not become part of HGVC (from a points perspective)

So was in an owner's review meeting today at the Elara that Embarc will not become parts of HGVC, at least not anytime soon.

I have the opportunity to take over my Aunt and Uncle's Embarc points (140 IIRC) for free, just paying to transfer the title to me (I est $1000 for that).

I was interested in doing this Embarc would be converting the HGVC point, so I could add them to my current 11,200, but the sales guy said this wasn't going to happen.

Does anyone know differently? There is nowhere Embarc has properties that I am interested in going to, and I don't want to pick up the property just to sell (even at a profit) their annual points for someone else to use (just not worth the hassle factor for me). What I would want the Embarc purchase for is to add to my HGVC points, even if it isn't for another year or so. I would deal with "selling" their points just knowing that I would eventually be getting more HGVC points.

But the sales guy seemed pretty definitive that this wasn't going to happen.

Would appreciated if anyone else has heard differently. My Aunt and Uncle are ready to surrender their Embarc back to Hilton.

They aren't becoming part of HGVC, even though, a couple of them have been rebranded HGVC, but they are part of HGV and you do have access to them if you join HGV Max or get access to DEX.

Your aunt and uncle could sell to another member by joining the Embarc Facebook group rather than just defaulting on their fees ("giving back" costs $1000usd per contract) . The process is easy and we have a guide that explains s the process. (www.facebook.com/groups/clubintrawestowners)

While access might be possible, the supply is likely to be quite limited. Embarc inventory in MAX will be limited to the amount that Embarc owners place Embarc inventory using MAX. If no Embarc owners put inventory into MAX, there won't be Embarc inventory in MAX (unless HGV puts developer-owned inventory into MAX).

I think (but haven't been able to prove this theory) that this is true of the whole MAX exchange system.

I also believe it is. Actually, I can't imagine how it could work any other way. MAX cannot offer inventory that it doesn't control. And control is intertwined with ownership, whether that is deeded ownership or ownership through a trust.

IMHO, they are playing the old dots on a map game. You can set up some sort of affiliation with a resort, and then display that resort as a dot on the map of available resorts. In practice, the amount of inventory provided might be negligible.

My thoughts exactly. HGV has "solved" (on paper or for a sales presentation) one the the biggest complaints with HGVC, not enough resorts.

I think that inventory must be handled the same way that inventory is being exchanged in RCI for example.

We're in synch. I can't conceive of how they might be able to operate without an inventory control/management system that reconciles availability with usage. Somewhere, somehow available inventory has to be recorded as an asset, and awarded inventory as a liability. If those don't match, that should be caught in any competent financial audit.

With limited testing, we have verified that the inventory available in MAX for HVC/DRI owners is NOT the same as what is available to HGVC owners.

In MAX wouldn't a HVC/DRI Member be looking for HGVC Resorts and a HGVC Member be looking for HCV/DRI Resorts?

Exactly. We have a couple of TUG members who own on both sides and are in MAX.
