I've been practicing making a gulf reservation with my bounty of points and one of my freebie placeholder reservations.

From what I can tell, I can't walk a reservation like I can with "regular" HGV properties. I made a 3 day reservation no problem but then, when I went to add a day, It show's no inventory on the particular resort I reserved. I switched the reservation to a different resort and then could see what was available on the previous resort.

Does anyone have walking skills for gulf properties or do you just have to call every morning after you reserve your initial 3 days?

I would try it, but my 3 freebie reservations are being used right now. I‘m interested in the answer. I was deciding between a OceanOak and Sanibel Cottages and choose a Ocean Oak.

I have found the same problem on occasion. I would call every second day to walk it once I had the initial 3 days.

I've had it show availability, but at confirmation, say no longer available.
I'd think that perhaps you jumped my booking, but then...
The same thing happened 4 more times. I think it's updated manually.

They didn't want to participate in HGVC's online system in the first place.*

Suggest you not depend on website. I succeeded in adding nights on-line working on a two week stay, wasn't worried, then the website decided to deny showing me availability when I knew the days were there for my specific unit. Sadly I had waited an extra day to extend, then it was the weekend and the office was closed. By open of business on Monday, someone had scooped me with a 3 day on the unit. So, extend each day don't wait, and call if you have any issues at all.

We own a week on the gulf. Our week is guaranteed UNLESS WE opt out of it. This may be why weeks are not available. Also remember, owner weeks are Friday to Friday, not Saturday to Saturday at Tortuga. I am not sure about other Gulf resorts.

I had 3N in Marco, and been adding a day each night after Midnight.
Last night, it showed no availability, so I called first thing this morning.
They added the day and said they'd send my complaint to IT. <Sure>

Tonight, it showed availability. It took a long time to confirm, but it did.
Did the referral wake an IT guy up from his nap, or was it serendipity?
Either way, it worked. Tomorrow is another day. The adventure continues.

Update:
I walked my Marco booking from 3N to 6N, and only called once.
But availability sometimes did not show up until mid-morning.
I just tacked 3N in Sanibel on the back-end. I may try walking that.

I was snooping again today and found a 2BR Eagle Nest first week of May. I tried to switch one of my placeholder reservations to it and the inventory vanished. I called and she was able to make the switch. I really wanted to get a Sanibel/Captiva. Maybe something will pop up last minute and I can switch again. Either way, the flights will remain the same so I can start planning that.
