waitlist for 3/27/21 when my home resort check in is 9/25/20

My home resort check in is 9/25/2020 I want to waitlist a resort for 3/27/21. Does this mean I have to let my points go into LCUP in order to get a match. Not sure I want to let that happen

You can wait list now, and there is a small possibility of a match before 9/25/2020. But it's unlikely because most availability gets released 6 months before check in. At that point your points will be in LCUP and will not match.
