We have been wait listed for Malaga since last July-just found out 60 days before arrival points automatically refunded — anyone have luck after that? We booked thru Marriott.com and will pay if needed as this is a special family BD and needed to book air — and we used 2018 banker points so now those will need to be used before end of this year— ugh
Just curious if we have any hope this will work
Of course being a MFC owner buying into points program to do this sort of thing is why we did
Any info helpful

Not what you asked, but, this is why I always use borrowed points for something like this. i.e., if you would have used 2019 points, you'd be in much better shape as far as that part goes.

Spain is hard to get into at times, it works differently somehow and I think there are not many points owners there. I don't believe they are selling points yet. I would keep checking manually on mvci.com and see what you can find. Sometimes, inventory shows up. Do you have a specific date you must travel, or, more flexible?

As Steve mentioned keep checking. Hopefully you have a backup plan in case nothing becomes available. Perhaps check for any rentals at the resort (TUG Marketplace or redweek.com) that may still be available just in case.

We enjoyed our stay at Marbella and used it as a launch point to tour a number of sites in southern Spain. I hope something works out for you. Good luck.

Best regards.

Thanks
We are booked at hotel for one unit using friends rate so we are going no matter what—we requested 2 3 bedroom units—it’s my 70th BD
I do check daily and even if a day or two shows up will but I am guessing if I modify those wait list reservations they would likely cancel the whole request?
Guess I should call to ask that question
We used 2018 points -having just bought in 2017 and converted our Frenchman’s cove usesge too—so those 2018 points must be used by end of this year
Guess we will see but not overly enthusiastic at this point
