Does anyone know more about what this is? It is just a sales ploy to get us to buy something more?

I just received a "$1,000 VV Rewards Gift Card" in the mail from the VV Rewards Redemption Center in Ft. Lauderdale Florida.

The card says:

"As a valued owner with Vacation Village Resorts we are delighted to provide you with this $1,000.00 VV Rewards Gift Card as part of our new owner benefits imitative. Simply go to www.vvrewards.com within 72 hours of receipt and enter the Reward Number to discover how you can redeem redeem your rewards.

On the website it says:

-We will enroll you in our Affinity Rewards℠ program and you will learn how we can pay your maintenance fees. We have awarded more than $9,200,000 in just 5 years!
-We will redeem your $1,000.00 VV Rewards Gift Card on owner specials.

It also says:

Simply verify or update your contact information in the form provided below and one of our Owner Specialists will be in contact with you to give you more details about your new benefits.

-Thanks!

Smells like a sales ploy ... as it quacks like a sales tour ... complete with the fuzzy math of a slight of hand for a sales presentation.

And a TS management company GIVING AWAY $9.2MM ..... Fuzzy-Wuzzy math.... IMHO.

I received one of those a few months ago. I input my number and got to the next few pages of the website. The flier also states "terms and conditions on website" but after searching the website I could not find anything about any.

Seems like one of their normal sale scams and I will be bringing it up when I visit at the beginning of July.

I left my contact information just to see what would happen. I received a call back but was not available to answer. I also received an e-mail.

From the e-mail they are saying that they want us to convert the timeshare from weeks to points and is trying to sell the reasons why we should move to points.

I understand there are benefits of having points system vs weeks, but I really do not want to pay the costs of converting what we've already paid too much for. :)

Has anyone went to a owners presentation for some type of rewards program? Sounds like a sales tactic - the person that called of course said it isn't. We declined but curious if anyone has went to one that can share what this is all about.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
Affinity rewards are rewards you get from making family referrals. You get so much for getting them to take the discounted vacation that requires a tour. You get more if they buy. You get more after reaching various targets.

My guess about the VV rewards gift card is it is like the reward dollars through RCI platinum or a half a dozen other programs. In my experience it is monopoly/play money. It gives you 3-8% discount on things like hotels and other things and occasionally I do find prices that are maybe $6-12 cheaper using the dollars on ho but it comes at the price of losing loyal rewards and may be immediately non refundable/cancel able vs being able to cancel 24-48 hrs before check in. I am not enrolled in either program. That is just might educated guess based on similar offers in the past.

I agree with tschwa2

Vidanta in Mexico has a program run by ICE called Vida Dollars . It has mixed reviews as to value .
It is a % percentage back to use ....
ICE custom tailors these type of programs and then administers them for TS and travel/ vacation companies . I believe ICE is involved in the RCI cruise offerings.

Perhaps the VV program is similar .
