What is VSN Select? Is this for hotel rooms? I assume the answer is not but is it a good use of StarOptions?

I just got this newsletter that says Ritz Carlton, Aruba, is now included.

Most of these things are a horrible use of Staroptions. I value Staroptions at about 3c/point based on what I can rent HRA and WKV (doing it based on MF is the wrong way to consider it, because you already paid the MF. Renting is alternate use to VSN Select, Bonvoy exchange etc).

So, based on that calculation and the chart below, you can stay at the Ritz in Aruba in the summer in a hotel room for $1300-$2000 per night ($3100+ for 1BR suite) or $2300 to $3000 per night in the winter ($4100+for 1BR suite). Since the cash rate for a hotel room in the summer seems to be $600-$700 with various promos for 4+ night stays, it seems vastly superior (~60% savings in example below) to rent out a prime week at say 3c/SO and use the cash to stay there - if that destination was something you wanted. Paying 60,000 SO for a hotel room that costs $624 (see 2 Queen Ocean View below for 5 nights mid-July) is a value of about 1c/SO and doesn't cover even the cost of MF at WKV, let alone Hawaii weeks.
