We are fortunate that we live in a not-too-big county here in O-H-I-O. Our board of elections is a 15 minute drive from our home. The line to get in took @15 minutes so we were home in under an hour! Weather was wonderful.

Voting Matters so please do whatever you need to cast your ballot!

Got our absentee ballots last week. I dropped 'em at the county election office on Monday. Now the waiting. . . . . (fingers drumming on desk!)

We went to Akron Ohio to vote yesterday arrived a few minutes Before it opened first day.
The line was wrapped around the building. I was shocked!
We left. My wife went today right around closing and got right in and done 20 minutes.

Our early voting only starts one week and one day before the regular vote and only lasts one week. My 101 year old grandmother is waiting for her absentee ballot that was supposed to be mailed out 5 days ago but still hasn't arrived.

Nevada is doing all voting by absentee ballot, if you want, or in person, if you don't. They're even doing a voting day thing here at the community center in my neighborhood. I'll leave that to those who want to stand in line. Easier for us to fill out the absentee ballots, and drop them off at the courthouse here in town. No stamps, no lines, no waiting, no BS.

PSA - just like rescinding a timeshare, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. EXACTLY AS THEY ARE PRESENTED.

Ours involves 2 envelopes - a “secrecy envelope”, and the one you mail it back in (or drop off at the election office).

Vote does not count if you don’t follow the instructions.

I mailed mine yesterday. In Texas those of us over 65 are eligible to vote by mail...

George
Seriously? You have to be over 65 to vote by mail in Texas? When working people (typically under 65) are the ones who need this?

You have to be over 65 to vote by mail in Texas?
Or a limited number of other excuses...
-- you are disabled
-- you will be out of the county on Election Day and during the period for early voting
-- you are confined in jail, but otherwise eligible
Keeping a job is not listed.

Voted last week. Wife and I filled out our absentee ballots and then I drove them to our County Board of Elections to make absolutely sure the mail couldn’t be a factor. NC early voting starts Oct 15 and runs thru Oct 30.

Some Virginia localities are going that route - a community room is currently set up for in-person voting with electronic tabulation or by "absentee" ballot or by mail

Got our by-mail ballots yesterday and will put them into the drop-box at Town Hall this afternoon. :)

In Massachusetts every registered voter can vote early, in person, or by-mail (which is essentially absentee) and every registered voter was sent an application for mail-in ballots. If you send in your signed application they mail you the ballot/envelopes. Then you complete your anonymous ballot, seal it into the inner envelope with your name/address/repeat signature and barcode identifier on it, place that into the postage-paid return envelope and either mail it in or put it in a drop-box. When it's received they open the outer envelope and verify the name/address info and signature on the inner envelope, and either accept the ballot or set it aside if there are problems. Accepted ballot envelopes go into secure storage until they can be opened and the anonymous ballots counted with all others; if it kicks out they inform you that there's a problem requiring your attention. If you request a mail-in ballot you can still vote early/in-person as long as your mail-in vote hasn't been returned. Your first accepted ballot will generate an entry in the voter rolls that negates any subsequent ballots you try to submit. You can check the status of your ballot online anytime.

If this is the wave of the future for all states I think it's a great way to participate in the process. :)

Is this political?
As long as the thread remains focused on the vote/ballot process and doesn't veer off into partisan issues about who/what you're voting *for*, then I really don't see any problem with this thread.

Mailed my vote on Monday; website said it was received by the town yesterday, two days later. Complete confidence in our rural mail carriers.

Our ballots were to start being mailed on the 6th. I plan to fill mine out, then drop it off instead of putting it in the mail. Dd decided she would rather do early voting. When she gets to the polls she will just need to sign something stating she is voting in person instead of absentee.

I like getting the mail-in ballots so I have time to read and research the wordy constitutional amendment questions. They are sometimes so confusing I hate to be live in a booth and feel like I should make a quick decision and move on so the next person in line can get in. There are also many other names and titles on the ballot that I never heard of, that I'd like to read about. (we have a mosquito board)
I'd bet most people don't really know their local politicians or their school board. Then there are SO MANY judges! Who are all these people????

Our ballots just arrived yesterday; we always vote by mail, but I have to read up on the propositions before I can do anything with it. Probably next week.

I am waiting to vote early, in-person, on October 15th. We'll purposely go to an early voting site that is in a predominantly Black area. Currently, 25% of the absentee/mail votes cast in NC are by voters who did not vote in 2016--great to see more people participating in the process! :)

I envy you. I can't wait to vote. Early voting in Texas begins October 13. I plan to be the first in line.
