Hello, everyone!
We will be going to Vistana Resort in February. I'd like to put in a request for a section, and would like some advice. Our weeks are 2bdrm 8/6's through RCI. I'm looking for a section that has low road noise and fairly close proximity to a pool. After reading many, many other posts and reviews, I'm thinking that the Lakes section would probably be the best, with Fountains in second place. Am I pretty much on target?

Secondly, how is the soundproofing? I'm usually torn between the convenience of the ground floor vs. the luxury of the top floor's lack of overhead noise. Do the people upstairs sound like a herd of elephants, or is it pretty muffled?

Thanks,

Michael P.

Unfortunately, Starwood no longer accepts requests from exchangers - you will have to wait until check-in.

Also, this resort has very specific check-in days for each phase. What is your check-in day? Is your exchange for a dedicated 2 bdm. or a lock-off?

We actually have two weeks back to back, Sunday 2/12-19th, and Sunday 2/19-26. We are flying in on Friday 2/17, using the tail end of the first week, and then all of the second week. Both units are listed as 2bdrm 8/6. It was cheaper to trade for the whole week than to pay for two nights at Vistana, as I have extra RCI weeks to burn.

We are hoping to be able to stay in the same unit for both of the weeks. Obviously I am going to need to call the resort ahead of time and explain about the first week, and to ask to stay put for the second week.

Instead of calling, I would suggest you use the "Diamond Lane" link on this website:

http://www.starwoodvacationownership.com/sheraton_vistana_resort/welcome.jsp

Provide both confirmations, explain your late arrival date, and ask if you could possibly have the same unit for both weeks. Adding a generic request (e.g. Lakes top floor) can't hurt! I would leave out the "cheaper to burn a week part!"

Using Diamond Lane also allows you to use what's usually a faster check-in line (back of the lobby last time I was there) since you've essentially pre-registered.

Good luck!

I knew about the Diamond lane check-in, but I thought that what Denise was saying was that it was no longer available to non-Starwood people. That was what I was planning to do until I read her message.

Can I still use Diamond Lane?
Any opinions on the overhead noise question?

Once again, thanks for your help!

Diamond Lane is the expressway to the sales department. They give you a better check-in, and YOU'RE EXPECTED to take a tour. Regardless of what you say at check-in, you will hear from them every day. Don't mind me, I've been around this place for 30 YEARS!

Is there a better avenue for me to approach asking about staying in the same unit for both weeks?

We just unplug the phone. Diamond Lane can save lots of time if checking in at a popular time.

Plus, they give you a bottle of sparkling wine-like substance AND a free mug!
