VIP upgrades on resale points reservations.

I am curious if the new system upgrade prevents opting into suite upgrades for reservations made with resale points for VIP owners. Until this new upgrade to website, I could request an upgrade if available for my resale points. We are platinum level owners and also have resale points.

I've made a few reservations with my resale points lately ( Bentley Brook, National Harbor, Smugglers Notch). Each time I make the preservation, the ability to opt into suite upgrades was not available. So after completing the reservation, I have gone back to modify and see if I can opt in there. However, the modify suite upgrade isn't there. I can still get upgrade with my developer points.

Did Wyndham remove that option or am I doing something wrong?

Correct. VIP benefits do not apply to reservations made with resale points, even partially.

That's sad. Up until September I could get a room upgrade but not the discount on my reservation with resale point.

If this was the case it was an error/website issue that was remediated, as this all changed way back in Aug 2021 when VIP resale points buckets were separated out completely and VIP benefits were no longer applicable to any resale transactions.

They stopped this ability back in 2021 I think. If you were still getting them, then that was a website error (shocking). This was pretty openly discussed and disappointing at the time, but something I think we all figured would happen eventually. Also, no unlimited housekeeping for your resale points.

I knew that I wasn't eligible for room point discounts but I was able to opt into the upgrade if available right up to September. I guess my good fortune ended. Oh well I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Are you certain you used resale point on that reservation? If you don’t use any resale points, you can opt in as before.

I lost that ability approximately 2 years ago along with seemingly all other "hybrid" owners. Feel lucky if you were able to get it as long as you were.

You were probably booking with retail points and didn't realize it.

There still may be a glitch in the system. I have been able to get upgrades on my resale reservations despite not been able to ask for one. I was pleasantly surprised. It does not happen often. Just 2 times if I remember correctly.

Here is an example of a reservation I made at the end of August using resale points. I booked a reservation at Bentley Brook for Dec 1-4 and opted to be upgraded and now we are in a 2 bedroom.
