Back from a pleasant week at SVV. But check in wasn't exactly a pleasure. We were called a few days prior to our arrival by a Starwood "representative" to let us know that we we would have a special "VIP" check in ( because we are owners). This sounded great and made me feel special. The representative then asked what time we would arrive and our method of getting to FL. I didn't know exactly so I didn't specify. We were given the name of the rep to ask for upon our arrival.

After spending most of the day in airports, planes and rental cars my family arrived at the resort a bit travel worn to say the least. My wife and I walked in to the lobby to check in (no waiting) The young man at the desk said we must go downstairs to the gallery for VIP check in. OK, so went down where we were we had to wait 20 minutes to talk to our "rep" My wife and I were tired and not happy to say the least.

It turns out that VIP check in is just a ploy to get you to sign up for the "owners update" before you even register. We could have checked in without waiting in the lobby. This post is just a warning to others who might not be interested in the hard sell right from the moment of your arrival. We did not attend the "owners update". I am normally a frequent lurker on this forum but I thought others might like to know.

Thanks for the information, and please let us know how the rest of your trip goes. I recently bought an EOY at SVV (Bella) but have never been. Maybe in a few years, we'll make it down, but the kids are getting a little old for Disney.

The vacation was 3/10-3/17/12. We were in building 23(Amelia ?) in a 2 bedroom lock off. The room was great except the couch in the living room wasn't in great shape. Otherwise no compaints. The sales dept. did call to offer even more Starpoints if we listened to their presentation but it just wasn't enough:)
