As many of you know, I am working for the bowling industry here in Wisconsin. I have posted a lot of photos of some of our member centers . . . as well as "bars, taverns, pizzerias and supper clubs" with bowling lanes. Wisconsin is ripe with VINTAGE bowling!
This past Sunday, my association (Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin) hosted what is believed to be the first "Vintage Alleys Tour" ever held . . . at least to industry media sources. Think "Napa Valley Wine Tour meets Old School Bowling." It was a really great experience.
Leading up to the event, we got some local press (online here & print). We were fortunate to have journalists join us from the two major state papers (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Wisconsin State Journal). Here is the article that was published Wednesday in the Milwaukee newspaper . . . with ONLINE version up on Tuesday. The Wisc. State Journal will be publishing this coming Sunday.
I thought folks may be interested given the interest in my photos I share here.
I will leave you with this video I posted on my personal Facebook page on Sunday night. In it, our group is bowling on vintage 1914 bowling lanes (2 of them) that still us manual (human) pinsetters (aka "pinboys"). The lanes were recently fully restored to their 1914 glory! The video has literally gone viral . . . with nearly 1,000 shares and over 85k views since Sunday night!
I hope you enjoy the roll down memory lane(s)!
