I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure this has been posted before on another thread, but I could find it. What track record of success have you elite owners had in getting villa upgrades? Can anyone give me some examples of successful upgrades? I believe I remember at least a couple of you mentioning that biggest elite perk was the ability to be on the waiting list while holding reservations. I guess what I'm asking (again) is whether you elite owners think that its worth the cost? I'm thinking of buying another week just for my own families use, but is worth the extra $ buy from the developer to get elite status?

Only 5 star elites can waitlist while holding reservations.

i am 3* elite and we got a great upgrade last year at harborside (our home resort). we were supposed to have a normal 2br l/o but they upgraded us to the 3 br l/o. it was fabulous, we were a lot of people and it gave us so much more room.:whoopie:

According to mystarcentral, both 4 & 5 star elites can waitlist while holding an existing reservation.

In the last two years we have been upgraded 4 times, each time from a small one bedroom to a large. This was at Harborside, WMH (2), and WKV. Personally I think this is a great perk because it allows your options to go farther. You can squeeze in an extra weekend somewhere.

As a Five * ELITE you can call within 90 days of your stay and book the small side and be automatically upgraded to the large side.

Interesting--I own week 52 which is impossible to upgrade but I never thought about upgrading my other two bedroom platinum at Harborside to a 3 bedroom--will think about that for next year when I go! I love TUG for getting great ideas that I would have never thought about!

Traded into studio at KORV last month and was upgraded into 1BR. My only use thus far so I'm batting 1.000.

We have been upgraded from Studio to One Bedroom at WKORV.

The early check-in is valuable. It gives you a chance to change your room if there's an issue. We had one room, great location/view, but clearly the people before us were smoking cigars or pipes or something. The Westin had tried to clear the room with deodorizer, but to no avail. We were able to switch out before the other nice view rooms were given away.

The Platinum SPG benefit is also very nice. Room upgrades at hotels. Club lounge access. It's a very nice way to travel.

I'm batting 500. We were upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom (ocean view no less) at WKORV, but denied an upgrade (and apparently punished too for good measure) at WMH.
